September 23, 200916 yr No, baseball season is about 6 weeks too long anyways. I quit caring about August 1st and don't care anymore till MAYBE the World Series.
September 23, 200916 yr Frankly the number of games is one of the things that has seriously lead to a decline in my interest in baseball over the last few years. Of course the Reds constant futility hasn't helped either. Well, we are agreeing in this thread.:thumb::banana:
September 23, 200916 yr People complain that there are too many games already. This would only add more games. I don't think they should add more teams. I love the playoffs the way they are currently. Baseball's regular season is long enough. If you can't make the playoffs based on 162 games, then you don't deserve to be in them.
September 23, 200916 yr No freakin' way! If anything, they should reduce the number of teams and go back to a two-division format where the division champs only get in.
September 23, 200916 yr Do it like the minor leagues and split the season in half. Just throwing that out there...
September 23, 200916 yr Give each league 1 more Wildcard Team. So you want each league to have 5 teams in the playoffs? How exactly would that work in the playoffs?
September 23, 200916 yr So you want each league to have 5 teams in the playoffs? How exactly would that work in the playoffs? My guess is the team from each league with the best overall record gets a bye in the 1st round maybe? Either way it's not a good idea. Some people complain because good teams get left out. O well, that's the game work harder for next year. I know you'll agree with this philosophy.
September 23, 200916 yr No freakin' way! If anything, they should reduce the number of teams and go back to a two-division format where the division champs only get in. Amen.:thumb:
September 23, 200916 yr No freakin' way! If anything, they should reduce the number of teams and go back to a two-division format where the division champs only get in. Rotten idea. The wild card has been excellent for baseball. It keeps the regular season relevant in September. Think of this season. The Yankees and Angels would have had the two AL divisions all but sewn up weeks ago. The only thing keeping the AL interesting is the central division.
September 23, 200916 yr Honestly have not watched a Reds game since Mid July when they were "all but out of it." Wish baseball could find a way to shorten games 3.5-4 hours is too much in person.
September 23, 200916 yr No way the Reds/Pirates are making money right now??? Sure they'd have to cut season ticket prices but a higher attendance would off set that. Why do you think there would be a higher attendance? Secondly, they would lose money because that's less games that the league can charge TV and radio for. It will never happen.

September 23, 200916 yr Would love to see two to four more teams make the playoffs, but they need to go back to the old 154 game schedule.
