Should baseball expand the number of teams in the playoffs?

Peter Gammons thinks so

I could see where it would work out for a lot more franchises. If they were to add 2 more wildcard teams then you'd see teams in the races a lot longer and attendances wouldn't decline as much in the month of September.

They'd really need to start the season at least 1 week earlier though. It should be that way right now but who knows.

No. Absolutely not.

If they do, they need to shorten the regular season schedule.

Is there a good reason why they shouldn't do that anyway?

I was actually thinking about this the other day. I wouldn't mind seeing them shorten the season, period. It would definitely make it more interesting of a season. I think it would make for a better product as well.

Frankly the number of games is one of the things that has seriously lead to a decline in my interest in baseball over the last few years.

Of course the Reds constant futility hasn't helped either.

If they keep the regular season as is, and expand the number of teams to go into the playoffs, the World Series could go deep into November. I like it the way it is now.

Minnesota's new outdoor stadium will be great if they make the WS.

Agreed. A shortened season would keep us interested in the Reds for a larger portion of the season, which is good.

A shortened season leads to less revenue for each team. Not happening.

No way the Reds/Pirates are making money right now???

Sure they'd have to cut season ticket prices but a higher attendance would off set that.

No.
