If newport gets the 2 other players rumored, they could be very good.

One of the two, DeMarco Foster, has been cleared to play the the state.

Still waiting on Upshaw.

Can you elaborate on these two guys? Where did they come from? What year are they? Position? Size? Thanks.....

Here Another transfer cleared … Posted by rernst October 5th, 2009, 9:20 am Post a CommentRecommendDemarco Foster, a former Woodward guard who transferred to Newport at the beginning of this school year, has been ruled eligible by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association. Newport principal Scott Draud confirmed the ruling today. Foster, a senior, averaged 4.4 points per game for the Bulldogs. He scored a season-high 16 in an upset of Aiken.

Alphonso Upshaw, a junior who also has transferred to Newport, is in the process of applying for a eligibility waiver from the KHSAA, Draud said via e-mail. Upshaw averaged 11.6 points per game last year at Clark Montessori.

Newport returns most of its key players from a 16-11 team.

Here you go here is the information on the two from Ryan Ernst.

Watch out for the Beechies. Kyle Daniels is geered up to help the tigers make some noise in the 9th!:ylsuper:

Thelen should be and will be in the top 10 by the end of the season. Wish he could have stayed healthy last season. I hope he utilizes both his inside ability and his outside ability because I noticed he likes to hang around outside sometimes, but he's going to be key for CovCath. Wellbrock has shown he's a rebounding machine, but he'll give you a solid 4 points a game. Thelen will give you points down low and rebounds to boot. If Pauly can stay healthy things could be good for CovCath.

In my opinion, Thelen will be top 6 or 7 by years end. I like his style of play. If Cov. Cath. turns to him on offense, he could be a force.

BW is going to be young and inexperienced but they will have one of the better players in the region in Pohlgeers. I saw them this summer and you can see talent but you also see youth which can be a challenge. Vocke will be interesting to watch.

Pohlgeers is a pretty solid player. But everybody is underestimating Kyle Daniels.

1. You're not giving Pohlgeers enough credit with "pretty solid." Very strong offensive game. I'd guess he'll be an 18 to 20 PPG guy this year.

2. I'm not understimaging Mr. Daniels. I just don't recall which player he was. I'll take your word for it.

Pohlgeers has a nice stroke from the perimeter but there is no way he scores 18 to 20 a game. How many kids in this region scored 18 to 20 a game last year??

He is a spot up shooter that needs someone to create shots for him. Most of the shots he got last year were because defenses had to focus on Romes and Buettel.

This team lost a lot with the departures of Romes and Buettel and will struggle to score points.

We'll see on Pohlgeers. I saw him this summer against Holmes and he scored a lot of different ways and he was the focal point of the offense.

Can someone post the Cats' Pause ratings for the top 9th region teams and players? I heard they are out, but i haven't seen them.

Who are the 2 new tall guys that transferred to Newport High?

Newport will be very competitive this year.

Dixie Heights has talent on their side, Brandon and Ian...aren't they sophomores starting varsity?

What is JV team @ Cov Cath looking like this year? Will Varsity surprise us?

Keith Egan not mentioned anywhere in here from Cov Holy Cross is a very good athlete. I believe last year against the State Champion Holmes Bulldogs, he took Elijah Pittman out of his game both times they met.

Is Trammel and Raleigh not playing this year?

How does George Grote's injury effect Highlands to start the season?
