September 22, 200917 yr I agree 100% with you on that. I also agree with Jeff Goodman at Fox - why in the world are 4-star players holding press conference's these days?:idunno: Whatever they think will get their name in the spotlight.
September 22, 200917 yr Author Whatever they think will get their name in the spotlight. I know, but still. I mean, he is a solid player, but holding a press conference? Oh well, I guess we'll wait until Thursday. PM me by the way and I'll show you something :thumb:

September 22, 200917 yr I enjoy Matt's site and check it out every day, but that was not my source. In fact, I haven't saw anywhere on his site yet that says Stacey Poole is coming to Kentucky. His site still says it's between South Carolina and Kentucky. My source is a good one on this. From KSR on 9/20/09 @ 11:40 p.m. 1): The biggest news of the night is that we are winding down on the Stacey Poole recruitment. He came back from his UK visit and did an interview with Dustin Rumbaugh, which you can read below. Basically Stacey said he had a great time and UK is going to be his only official visit. He plans on making a decision sometime this week and it could be by Tuesday. Most everyone has thought that UK was the leader for Poole for a long time and all signs point to him pulling the trigger and picking the Cats. However in recruiting, it isnt over till its over and as of yet, its not over. But all have wondered when the first 2010 commitment will take place….it might be worth hitting refresh over the next two days to find out. From KSR on 9/20/09 a little after 9:00 p.m. This weekend the Cats played host to Stacey Poole, one of their top targets in the 2010 class. Along with point guard prospect Brandon Knight, Poole was able to attend Kentucky’s football game against in-state rival, Louisville, and also view all that Kentucky’s campus and athletic facilities had to offer. At his fingertips and in his face were the hottest coach in America, some of the nation’s top college players and a program rich in tradition and not shy about showing it. So after taking all that in, what was the one thing that stuck out to Mr. Poole the most? “The fans. The fans are great…the fans are great. They showed us a lot of love when we were there. A lot of love” The way in which the visit was conducted stuck out as well. “Instead of being with us the whole time, [Coach Calipari] had us stay with the players most of the time and walk around with them because if we were to end up going there that’s what we would be doing everyday.” Calipari didn’t let Poole leave without sitting him down for a serious one-on-one conversation, though. “He just talked about me being in the program. He would like to have me. We just had a good conversation, getting to know each other. That was it.“ He continued, “Coach doesn’t put any pressure on you. The offer is out there on the table. It’s up to me whether I want to go there or not.” Calipari wasn’t the only one to impress the young wing. “The players are good people, too. They have good personalities. I was with my host, Darius Miller, he was real good, showing me around. I was with John Wall also and Demarcus Cousins. That was wonderful. It was just a nice time,” he said. Patrick Patterson and Jon Hood were also present as Poole and Knight were shown Calipari’s offense, the workout facilities and basically what day-to-day life for a Kentucky Wildcat is like. When talking about the possibility of being a Wildcat, Poole said, “It would be a really good situation if I was to decide to go there because it’s just a really good program and [Coach Calipari] is a good coach. He’s really enjoys what he does and he’s just a good person, too.” Many believed that a final decision might come as early as this weekend, but with his parents unable to accompany him on the trip, Poole still has to travel home and go over all of his options with them. After that, he’ll make his final decision. “In a couple of days, I’ll make my decision. I don’t know when exactly but it’ll be this week.” I guess they don't come out & state that Poole is committing to Kentucky, but you definitely get that vibe.
September 22, 200917 yr t - take t - to t - top I thought it meant "to the top" but both work I guess...
September 22, 200917 yr What about Brandon Knight, did he visit too? Yes, he was at the game as well, but is more than likely going to take a few more official visits before sitting down and trying to decide where he wants ti go. I hinted at the Poole commitment last week. I stated he would more than likely be the first verbal for 2010, and that although he is not as big of name as most of the other targets, he can still play some ball and be a major 3-4 year contributor in the DDM. He can play out on the wing, is a four in high school but Cal is recruiting him as a two guard. None the less, he can get to the rack and score. I have read he has been working on his shot from long range, and that the reason his three point shooting skills doesn't validate him as a real good shooter is that he has never really had to rely on his outside shot that much given his ability to take it inside and slash. IMO would be a nice piece to add to the puzzle, and hopefully when he verbals (if he verbs to UK) he starts a chain reaction of guys in 2010 who also make the Cats their choice. I'm just wondering how this is going to effect Doron Lamb. Cal has stated he would likely take only four players in this class. One would assume that out of the three left (again assuming Poole pulls the trigger) one spot would go to a PG such as Knight, Selby, or Irving. Another to a forward with some size and skill in the form of either Tobias Harris or CJ Leslie, and many have stated UK could be a likely destination for Adrian Payne as well. So it should be interesting to see how this plays out. I would love to see a recruiting class like this Knight Irving/Selby/Lamb Poole Harris/Leslie and perhaps Adrian Payne. Kentucky will be losing a lot of big bodies next year, and even though in the past Cal hasn't played with a lot of overly huge guys, Harris and Leslie may not be big enough to take on a 5 role, even in the DDM. However, if Cal does only use four to five scholarships, then I would love to see us get both Harris and Leslie. Both can score in bunches from the inside, and with pretty good mid range games. They both would be better than Adrian Payne, but again not as big as him and maybe not able to successfully step into the 5 role. I also think we need more of a pure shooter in this class. Even though Poole can score in bunches from the 2G spoint, he still is far away from being a polished outside threat. Although he has been working on his outside shot, it would of course be nice to have a shooter such as Lamb, or Irving to go with him. I guess another scenario to fix that and keep the scholly number low is if Brandon Knight signs. He can be an outside threat, and play off the ball some with Bledsoe running point. Its just difficult to leave top 25 guys out if they want a spot on the team. Its just a tough spot to be in because there are a lot of guys on the board who would consider coming to UK, but there is also a lot of talent in the 2011 class. It would of course be nice to get a couple other nice talents other than Gilchrist (hopefully that happens) in 11' because top to bottom it is going to be a much better class.

He had to reschedule with Kansas because of an issue with the initial date of his visit there.

September 22, 200917 yr I think it was about a question he was asked about the UK facilities. He said something to the effect that he knew they were going to be top grade and expected what he saw. He wasn't "wowed" because he knew they would be top notch. So I'd say it was taken out of context. Thanks. That was what I was thinking. It seemed like an easy quote to take out of context.
