September 21, 200917 yr 1. 2-0 is better than 1-1. Kentucky wins and does not perform to the best of ability, turns it over, but makes plays to prevent a true debacle. 2. Hartline played better than 3rd quarter showed. Just 1 ball, the one to McCaskill that he truely missed on his throw, and until I watched replay of game, didn't realize he had those halftime numbers...However, I do wish he would scramble more and get 5-7 yards on 1st or 2nd down, but then again I see how he managed the scramble on 3rd down in which we had to punt late and I see why he don't. 3. John Connor is good, have always said that...his ability to blow up defenders on the perimter is the best I have ever seen by a UK fullback. 4. Still worry about quarterbacks with happy feet...we struggle with those... 5. Play calling was pretty basic...why do we never throw at the sticks on 3rd down? Attempt at the 1st? seems so many times we "dump" off for short gain... 6. Offensive line did a pretty good job, kept Hartline from getting hit. 7. The band now has 16 tubas...big improvement. 8. The clock operator situation at the end of the half was HORRRRRIBLE. The game officials did an awful job at managing the game and their responsiblities. BIG 10, or should I say Big 2...little 10, are about as bad as SEC officiating. That is two games in a row (AT HOME)that I question the striped calls...Remember Vanderbilt? 9. Tailgating sucks for 12:00 Kickoff...a 6:00 PM kickoff should sauce everyone up a little more on Saturday. 10. Kragthorpe I thought had a good game plan and had his team prepared, I just don't know if this character has the moxy to keep Coaching at the "ville". But he may very well be fine if given enough time....but? 11. Speaking of...multiple U of L fans enjoy throwing the name of John Gruden around the stadium, for fun? Or for something more? :sssh: 12. Don't put much stock into #11 since I was told by someone who heard...we all know how that garbage gets started....but just sayin' 13. U of L dance team was strong, very strong. 14. Winston Guy is fast, Trevathan is a head hunter, Maxwell is solid, and I want to see Matt Lentz blow up someone this Saturday, I like his style. 15. Need Tydlacka to boom a few, about whiffed on some yesterday. 16. Lones Sieber first to wear girdle pads for game pants? I remember when Tim Couch was flagged at Georgia for not having them at or below knee level.
September 21, 200917 yr #7 is quite possibly the best observation on your list. And very observant of you, I might add.
September 21, 200917 yr I'll add a couple. 1. A lot of people are pointing to Trent Guy's muffed punt as the deciding play. I'd like to know this: Which Cardinal was offsides before Locke's kickoff return touchdown? The UL kicker had a touchback only to see his team get flagged for being offsides. If the Cards stay onsides does UK drive it down and score? Who knows but there was more than one play that decided this one. Trent Guy was a big reason UL had a chance to win this one. 2. A lot of people are taking up for Hartline's performance. I do think he's throwing the ball better this season and I'm willing to give him a pass on his interception and fumble. On the interception he had a spot to throw the ball and missed wide--I can live with a bad throw a lot more than a bad read. Sometimes you get away with a bad throw but when you make a bad read it almost always goes straight to the defender. The fumble on an option play I put on Joker. If you want to run the option like that have Cobb at quarterback. That said I don't think Hartline is physically tough. He could have picked up a first down on 3rd down if he'd have been willing to take a hit. Instead he dove from 6 yards away from the sticks. He's shown over and over that he doesn't like to be hit. I just don't think he's tough enough physically to play in the SEC. He's improved as a passer he's got to be tougher. I hate to criticize him when he threw the winning touchdown pass but he had a couple of chances to extend drives so the late game heroics might not have been necessary.
September 21, 200917 yr ANbody got what UK's record is coming off a bye week? I don't think it is that strong. For some reason they are notroiously slow coming off a bye. Nets, agree with you on John Connor. One of the best if not the best fullback I have ever seen at UK. Not too shabby for a walkon. When he gets to the corner, he takes people out. I like Winston Guy's aggression and Trevathan is going to be a nice player when he is done. I wish UK would play a little more zone and blitz more.
September 21, 200917 yr "11. Speaking of...multiple U of L fans enjoy throwing the name of John Gruden around the stadium, for fun? Or for something more?" That will have to be for fun as I seriously doubt that "Chucky" would consider Louisville or any other college program not named Notre Dame, USC, or Florida...and 2 out of those 3 are in good hands...I will let you think of the one on the hot seat. Plus with Jacksonville and Carolina probably up for grabs at the end of this year I bet Gruden is one and done in the booth...which is sad because I like Gruden in the booth with Tirico and Jaworski.
September 21, 200917 yr This is one UL fan that wouldn't want Gruden. If for some reason Krags is gone at the end of the season my short list would include. 1. Tubberville 2. Leach 3. John L.

I thought this game showed how bad UOFL really is. UK had the ball for only 1:12 in the third quarter and we scored only 6 pts. Four times in the red zone and couldnt score a TD. The Toss sweep run twice is the wost play call in the history of this rivalry. Since everyone is throwing out Gruden. Why not mention Jay Gruden former UofL QB who has played and Coached in the arena league football for over 20 years. He would definitely bring some excitement back in the offense

September 21, 200917 yr Coach K was 5 minutes from upsetting a huge rival on the road and the Card fans are bring up names of losers to be the next coach. You people should be ashamed. The man is doing his best with what he has and was left by CBP. Try getting behind him and see what happens. I might bring this up in a new thread..if I can calm down. Ok, do you see your team getting better? I do.

Ok, do you see your team getting better? I do. If Petrino would have left the cupboard bare, you would have a great point, but UL had a lot of talent when Kragthorpe came in to the program and a winning culture. We can debate the justification of weeding out bad apples all day and recruiting has not exactly been picking up with Krags at the helm. The questions of what has taken place at UL since Petrino's departure are more than legit, imo.

Ok, do you see your team getting better? I do. I hope coach K gets the job done. Im just not confident he can. I see two more losses in a row vs Utah and Pitt. As far as getting by your team I wear my Cardinal shirt everytime they play. I just see a program going nowhere right now. Cardinal fans are now happy with a moral victory against UK. Please, under petrino we owned the series. He left Coach K with 20 starters off a Orangebowl team. Quit blaming Petrino. Coach K was overwhelmed with this job. Weeding out the bad is not discipline. Keeping players under control and in line is.
September 21, 200917 yr CBP as any coach gets blamed when they leave a job and many players stay and it doesn't pan out. Coach K has yet to have a senior class. ^^^I'm glad you wear your school stuff everyday, I don't even do that. I was talking to the fans who are putting out names of coaches after two games and the Cards being close to a win on the road. John L. Smith shouldn't even be talked about a job that has no opening.
