September 13, 200917 yr I would like to know, later, from anyone who actually went to the game, exactly what the atmosphere was like. Its hard for me to imagine 106,000 people in a stadium. I don't know about The Shoe, but I've been to Bristol with 150K+. It is something to take in.

September 13, 200917 yr I think Tressel will get second guessed to death over his decisions in this one. He managed the clock horribly at the end of the first half and played not to lose in the 4th quarter. If not for that phantom pass interference call 4 seconds after the play was over against Miami how much heat would he be getting over his team's performances in big games? And while Barkley's overall numbers might not be outstanding he played his best when the pressure was on him the most. His ability to stay cool and make plays at the end of each half was the difference in the ballgame. For a true freshman to do that in front of one of the most hostile crowds in college football in a game of this magnitude is very impressive. Handoffs and screens? Heck for a freshman making his second career start its impressive enough that he had everyone lined up right and was able to get the plays off--let alone make the reads and throws that he had to make. There's more to running an offense than just getting the plays from the sideline and handing it off--even on running plays. Who knows how many times he might have had to change a play on the two drives? That is my question. It seems to me that a fan base, as crazed as Ohio States is, would start to notice that they have a coach that always lets them down when it matters most. I know they have won a national championship under his watch but they have also lost two. There used to be a coach in Kentucky who done this same thing in basketball, he now coaches in the Big 10. I'm just saying having "winning" season after awhile are not enough. Not at Kentucky and I'm guessing not at "The" Ohio State Univ.

September 13, 200917 yr I don't care what anybody says, A true Freshman going into the Horseshoe against a top 10 Buckeye team, and coming out with a W is an impressive performance. Sure, it wasn't always pretty, but he got the job done.

Next year though look out for USC! USC actually haswhat is looking like a pretty tough schedule. Cal is annihilating people, and they get SC at home. Oregon is tough with or without Blount, Notre Dame is not a pushover, UCLA has shown it can play tough, and I think Oregon St. will be challenging. Heck, even Washington, who was 0-10 last year, nearly took down LSU. Its a long, long road for a freshman QB and a virgin defense.
