This is so ridiculous, it is funny. The OSU bashers are ready to pounce anytime the Bucks lose. They lost by 3 to the #3 team in the nation. Not the embarassing loss most of you would have liked to have seen. Just on this website, the vote was 66-11 in favor of USC. None of the national media had OSU picked to win, or even keep it close. Good job Buckeyes. Now for the OSU fans, of which I am one. Congradulate USC. Their freshman QB did a great job of keeping his composer in a difficult situation. They outplayed Ohio State when it counted. The comments about not being impressed with him are as laughable as the crap coming from the OSU haters. Quit crying and maybe Gametime will keep his cute little sour grapes picture off of here. I'm tired of seeing it.

I didn't say he was impressive, but this isn't the first time I've seen you say I could have done this, or I could have done that. You are obviously a very talented athlete who blesses the rest of us fat couch potatoes with your presence.

Suckeyes lose again in the big one. This time against a USC team that isn't what they have been...with a Frosh QB in front of the biggest crowd ever there. McNight finally showed up late.

I thought both defenses played well. Pryor is one of the most overrated players in a long time. Absolute freak of an athelte but throws about like me. Had USC's safeties + LBers not gotten out of position uncharacteristically I'm not sure OSU scores tonight. When you have a guy that can run like that run him!

It is really hard not to like USC. Pete Carroll + Urban Myer are in a league of their own (Saban close). Caroll is the kind of guy people want to play for. He is up beat, passionate and makes the game fun for the kids. The atmosphere was awesome but he had them loose as a goose for the most part.

I didn't think USC's safeties played very well but I love watching them play!

OSU should do well in the Big 10 since it stinks for the most part. Mich/Penn St are about the only competition it seems.

Ohio State blows their big chance for redemption. They'll generate very

little sympathy from College Football Nation. They already cashed that

check from their 'showing' vs. Texas in bowl game, early 2009. Pryor

got outclassed by a true freshman. Carroll outfoxed Tressel (again).

No moral victories for Ohio State. Tressel got what he wanted:

106,000 plus screamed for his team the whole game. Fans were

I would like to know, later, from anyone who actually went to the game, exactly what the atmosphere was like. Its hard for me to imagine 106,000 people in a stadium.

I think Tressel will get second guessed to death over his decisions in this one. He managed the clock horribly at the end of the first half and played not to lose in the 4th quarter. If not for that phantom pass interference call 4 seconds after the play was over against Miami how much heat would he be getting over his team's performances in big games?

 

And while Barkley's overall numbers might not be outstanding he played his best when the pressure was on him the most. His ability to stay cool and make plays at the end of each half was the difference in the ballgame. For a true freshman to do that in front of one of the most hostile crowds in college football in a game of this magnitude is very impressive. Handoffs and screens? Heck for a freshman making his second career start its impressive enough that he had everyone lined up right and was able to get the plays off--let alone make the reads and throws that he had to make. There's more to running an offense than just getting the plays from the sideline and handing it off--even on running plays. Who knows how many times he might have had to change a play on the two drives?

I wasn't at the game but when Brent Musberger + K. Herbstreet said they have never heard it that loud there..... that was an eye opener! Looked like an awesome atmosphere!

I agree with the criticism of Tressell at the end of the first half on clock management. But you ahve to remember on that that USC had just planned to run the clock out until Stafon Johnson broke off that 29 yard run. BOTH coaches were playing soem field position.

 

I disagree with the criticism of him not going for the 54 yard field goal with Pettrey. USC had not returned a punt all night (all fair catches) and Ohio St.'s punter was en fuego getting them high and inside the 15 yard line. USC had had 2 straight 3 and outs. I think he made the right call, even if we Kentuckians think our local boy could have made the kick.

Losing Sarkisian as the signal-caller is also apparent. Trojans not using all of their offensive personnel efficiently. Almost no use of Stanley Havili tonight, and almost none of the trademark Trojan bootleg passes to TE's.

 

EXACTLY what I was thinking during the game! They miss him and I kept saying why is USC not running the bootleg stuff they run so well to take some pressure off the QB + keep guys from flying up to stop the run. I also noticed they didn't run much of the bunch stuff they run a lot of times. They are really good at the wheel out of the king/queen back too. They did do that a couple of times but not your typical play calling for USC. I know they were protecting their young QB some but I felt like they kind of took him out of rhythem. The end of the half when the opened it up and let him go I thought he looked pretty good.

OSU had given up 10 points prior...7 of those points came from a drive that started inside the 5. USC had shown basically no signs of life on offense beside the last drive of the first half before the final drive.

I'm not criticizing him by any means. I just wish he would have given Pettry the chance. It was a tough call to make.
