My Big Day, Tomorrow...Maybe

Featured Replies

Many of you know that, in June, I had a tracheostomy tube removed after living with it for over nine years. Well, the hole in my neck (into my airway) was supposed to close up in just a few days; however, the doctors warned me that my case was one-of-a-kind (trachs are normally in for just a few months or they're in forever), and they couldn't be sure how long it would take to heal--or if it ever would. Mine healed, but it did so at some point while the tube was still in. So my body basically thinks it's healed up...yet the hole is still there. I guess it's kind of like getting a giant piercing or something. I have to keep a strong Band-Aid over it to keep the air from leaking out.

Anyway, tomorrow morning, they're going to surgically repair my throat and close it up once and for all. Well, that's not entirely true. They're going to leave it slightly open, to keep it from abscessing, and let it heal from within. It's relatively minor surgery, but it's the first "real" surgery I've had since the trach was put in back in 2000.

I shouldn't be nervous about it, but I am really on edge right now. Although, all my BGP buddies will tell you I tend to obsess on such things. Guess I just worry about how things will turn out and if there will be any unpleasant surprises. On top of that, I have some ongoing health issues right now which I'm afraid if they discover, may lead them to postpone the whole thing. That would be awful. :irked:

So I'm requesting a little prayer for tomorrow if you happen to think of it. I trust that all will go well, but prayer is the best medicine of all.

Thanks. :thumb:

Just remember - RTS says that Ted Nugent is pro-Indian...so life is good!

Very true. And RTS likes people of all the various sects. He does not discriminate.

Prayers and thoughts from a Musketeer Family, we know prayers works, mr. mom55 is a cancer survivor and it is because of prayers and our faith.

On behalf of the TTC family (including all the squirrels currently residing on my property), you are in our prayers.

Good Luck BF. Everything will be just fine.:thumb:
