Murray 82 Fulton City 6

Does anyone recognize these scores:

56-14

53-8

52-21

49-7

40-0

52-12

44-8

56-14

51-0

If not, those are just some scores from Fulton City wins in 2006 and 2007. Point being, at a small school like Fulton City, sometimes you are good and sometimes you aren't. For every 53-8 and 51-0 win they get some years, they also take some beatings like this Murray game in other years.

I couldn't help but notice that none of the scores you posted included a 76 point differential. 82 points is one thing, but with a running clock it does sound a bit excessive.

Yeah, I understand. But what's the difference between 50 and 80 when it comes to blowouts? Are we establishing 50 as not running it up? Point being, sometimes you just rout teams and I'm thinking this might have been one of those times.

Most coaches want to start the second half with their first team on the field. If Murray got those guys out of there after the first series, as I assume they did, I have no problem with that.

I understand, but disagree. Up 62-6, ... why take a chance on someone getting hurt. Give the younger guys some PT. What does it prove to drive the ball down the field on a team that you know has no chance of stopping you and have something bad happen.

Roughly 4 TDs and a safety, ... :D j/k

The running clock only kicks in during the second half, correct?

I thought it kicked in when the differential was 42 or 45, whatever the point difference is, no matter when it occurs.

Not until the beginning of the second half. You can be up 100-0 in the first quarter and it doesn't run. I do believe, however, that both coaches can request a running clock earlier than halftime.

That is what I was thinking. :thumb:

15 safeties.

The way I look at it is, learn to play defense or be embarassed. The object of the game is to stop the other team. If I am a coach, obviously I won't keep the starters in the game if it is out of hand. However, I will play kids that bust their hump all week long. These kids deserve a chance to play and can't help if if they are that much better. Nobody wants to embarass kids but how can we also deprive kids the right to do what they have worked hart at doing?

If I have a young QB and my style is passing, Im gonna pass the ball when he goes in whether or not we are up 50 or 60. It's not my fault the other team can't hang. If they don't like it, they can drop my team from the schedule.

Murray must have some speed to score this many on someone, gotta have speed to bust big plays.

I agree Hank Hill.

Rule 13

I've seen Mayfield be up 56-0 at the half on several teams. Guess what the score was at the end of the game? 56-0. Sometimes you don't wanna humiliate the other coaches and the kids. It might come back to haunt you.
