Your 2A picks surprised me! A lot of folks up in NKy are thinking that Covington Holy Cross is the team to beat in NKy 2A, but you have Newport Central Catholic ranked 3rd in the entire 2A while Covington Holy Cross is ranked 19th!

 

Now I understand that NCC has history on it's side, but I have always felt that the BGP's poll didn't fall into the same trap as the AP and Coaches poll do, as they seem to always pick the best teams based on last year or years quality of team!

I agree with the comments about Covington Holy Cross. They have a lot of talent and on paper preseason, I expected to see them much higher. That is the only team in all the rankings that seemed to be more than a little out of line to me. The rest of the picks would just be quibbling. e.g. I would put Danville 3 and NCC 4 in 2A but that isn't even worth debating.

I have been hearing that Johnson Central is supposed to be very good this year... I must admit that I am also surprised that JC is not 2nd or 3rd in 5A.

 

Boyle is very good but the 2nd or 3rd ranked team in 5A should not be getting beat 49-7.

2A-I think Covington Holy Cross will prove to be a top five team.

I was a little surprised that Mason County is rated so high. I was not that impressed with the Royals last year and they lost their best player in their running back. I can't see them being ahead of Belfry by any means. I would have had them in the 8-10 range.

I think Dixie could possibly be top 10 in 5A but they should at least be in the top 15.

Now those that complained about Johnson Central not being ranked in front of BG or any other the other ahead of them after seeing the score of tonights game tells me they are probably where they should be. I thought Whitley Co was way to high which turns out to be true. I would have put BG Owensboro and Christian Co all tied for 2nd until they played each other because the team that wins those rightfully should be #2 until Highlands loses a game. BG Owensboro and Christian Co are the best in the west hands down this year.

 

BG vs Christian Co tomorrow night and next Saturday Owensboro plays host to the 3A Indiana state runners up from a year ago and are the favorites to win this year in Evansville Memorial.

 

After seeing the Anderson Co score they may be ranked a little higher next week and I would also have to add Hoptown into the top 10 somewhere.

 

I like the preseason poles tells you where everyone thinks you are to start the season and we all know it never ends up this way for sure.
