August 20, 200917 yr Why is Calipari being bashed in this situation? This happened while Rose was in high school. To me, it's the NCAA fault. They have a clearinghouse that is responsible for these types of matter. It's on the NCAA who cleared Rose to play at Memphis, not Calipari.
August 20, 200917 yr Because when the NCAA screws up, it's not entertaining; they screw up on a daily basis. But it's a massive, shapeless organization. It's much more fun to vilify an individual on national televsion than discuss the seeminly endless shortcomings of the NCAA's oversight mechanisms.

He had help by a person or persons in getting his grades changed and getting cleared. Not Coach Cal imo, and not just because he is Uk's coach. I think that whoever knows how to bend these rules and has these connections are the ones to blame.

This hits on what I was going to post. The quality of people he brings in and the quality of people he allows to be associated/hang out with his program has to be scary.

And you don't think there are people out there that will bend the rules and take the blame for the coaches to stay DIRECTLY blameless? It is those type of people that Cal seems to continue to allow be around his programs that make me very nervous.

Other than the free plane trip for Rose's brother is there something else?

And when it was discovered that the plane travel was an NCAA violation, Memphis was reimbursed for the expenses. This doesn't make any sense to me at all. Like Calhoun said a couple of years ago, the NCAA guideline book has 500+ pages of rules and violation. You're naive if you believe every schools doesn't break a rule here or there, either knowingly or unknowingly.
