August 4, 200917 yr Blue Jays pay all $4 million this year. Reds pay all of it next year. That makes it an even worse deal for the Reds in my eyes. This is also from Paul Daugherty's article: Apparently, the Reds aren’t on the hook for all of Rolen’s $11 million in 2010. Jocketty wouldn’t say what the team’s obligation is I'm the Reds will be paying more to Rolen than the $4.75 million they owed Encarnacion but it doesn't sound like they will be paying the whole $11 million to Rolen. I still think its a horrible trade for the Reds--they didn't need to give up any prospects with Encarnacion.
August 31, 200917 yr Anyone see Arroyo's piece on Rolen and what he brings to the table as far as leadership?
July 19, 201016 yr This was a terrible trade. Just last week people were saying they trusted Walt. Is that still the case after this terrible trade? :sssh:
July 20, 201016 yr Man I'd sure love to have Edwin at 3rd. I can't believe Walt made a trade like this.
July 20, 201016 yr Obviously the trade has worked out great for the Reds so far. I just wonder why he played in the All Star game.
July 20, 201016 yr I think now is a nice time to go back and read this thread again. You mean after he's went 0 his last 13, missed 4 of the last 5 games, just got a cortisone shot and may go on the DL? He's been beyond good when he's in the lineup, you just never know how long he'll be able to stay healthy.
July 20, 201016 yr Very interesting to see our views back then. I like the quote from a major league GM stating the Reds got robbed, just shows you even those in the "know" don't always get it right. Now if we could only get him back on the field. Luckily Cairo has been very solid off the bench.

So, none of the last year has mattered? (And, keep in mind, this isn't the Yanks or BoSox here)
July 20, 201016 yr Yeah, I believe he grew up a Reds fan. I'm thinking his presence will be a good thing, and take a lot of pressure off Votto in the leadership arena. For what it's worth, I didn't go back and read the rest of you jokers' posts; just mine. Feels pretty cool to be somewhat prophetic ...
