HT721 Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Facebook has agreed to let third party advertisers use your posted photos WITHOUT your permission. Click on SETTINGS (located on top of page in blue bar, next to logout); Select PRIVACY SETTINGS; Select NEWS FEEDS and WALL; Select the TAB that reads Facebook Ads. There will be a drop down box; Select NO ONE. Save your changes & then PASS THIS ON!
ColonelCrazy Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I don't know if I believe this or not. Where'd you hear this?
ColonelCrazy Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I did it, and it seems that you're right, HT. This doesn't seem right, though. Facebook keeps getting worse & worse...
halfback20 Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I've been thinking about deleting my facebook account anyways. Might do it now...not sure.
bugatti Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I did it, and it seems that you're right, HT. This doesn't seem right, though. Facebook keeps getting worse & worse... I know in the past I have seen some ads with people I am friends with appearing on my page. Nothing provocative. It has gotten better as of late though. I went on and turned off the setting.
gold sunrise Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Just did it. Thanks for the information. Me too.:thumb:
HammerTime Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I know in the past I have seen some ads with people I am friends with appearing on my page. Nothing provocative. It has gotten better as of late though. I went on and turned off the setting. They have been doing this for a while. For example guess this persons last name and win a Ipod or whatever. And it will have a picture of one of your friends.
Aiden Seamus Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 This is crazy. I am on the verge of deleting my Facebook page. It's too much crap now. When I first registered for Facebook (Fall of 2004) it was so much better than this. On top of all the general "crap" on there now, my parents have accounts, I know people's grandparents who have accounts, and I've seen dogs and cats with accounts. Facebook was great for the first two years and has quickly gone down hill since allowing people without valid, college e-mail accounts to register.
TrueBlueWildcat Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 This is a non issue. The 3rd party advertisers are on Facebook anyway so it's not like they're selling it to some international company. The ads are on facebook.
sportsfan41 Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 I dunno, maybe it's just me, but I just don't really care. Then again I'm all for the government spying on us if they think it's necessary sooo, privacy isn't much of an issue to me I suppose.
HammerTime Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Make you pictures and profile private. I don't think its that big of a deal really.
woodsrider Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Make you pictures and profile private. I don't think its that big of a deal really. I agree. I don't have any pics on there except my profile pic anyways.
