Because of Facebook, I've been able to:

 

Find classmates from high school that I haven't been in touch with for 25 years.

Keep in touch with friends I've made over the years who've moved away. I'm not talking to another part of the region, I'm talking to other parts of the country, and other parts of the world.

I'm able to keep in touch with my son and his fiancee. It's difficult because of their schedules to keep in touch.

I'm able to maintain a relationship with my future daughter-in-law's family, who I've only gotten to meet once, and won't get to see often, as they live in LA

I'm able to keep up with friends I've made through BGP outside of BGP.

I'm able to keep in touch with my family, whom I never see.

 

 

And I'm well on my way to being a Mafia Don.

 

 

MySpace is far inferior to Facebook, IMO. I hate it.

 

Are college kids the only people for whom social networking is beneficial? Look at it from the perspective of millions and millions of people world wide. Facebook is a good thing for so many because as you grow older, it's much tougher to connect with people who are important to you. Facebook offers that, and I'm thankful.

My point is that I don't know many (well, any) former college students that have dropped their facebook accounts upon graduation.

Also, if Facebook had stayed the same (which this isn't relevant because it's already changed) and closed your account once your college e-mail was deactivated, then so be it. I would have just gone back to using MySpace, like I did before I went to college.

Classmates.com doesn't have the same reach, nor functionality. How do you stay in touch with people from 25 years ago via phone, when you have no idea what their phone number is? I've been on Classmates.com for almost 10 years. My classmates, unfortunately, haven't. :lol: Not to mention it costs money.
