Vick can sign, may sit 4 games

Featured Replies

He basically has been suspended already. He has not played in 2 years.

Vick is currently under indefinite suspension. No need to keep dragging this out. Let him play!!!!!!!!!!

It's going to hurt him from the standpoint that a team may not want to sign him as a result.

I think a team will sign him, use those four weeks as something of an "extended spring training" (to borrow a baseball term) to prepare a type of wildcat package where Vick plays some quarterback, some running back, and some receiver.

No team is going to sign him with the hopes of him being able to play that soon anyway. If he is giving a four week suspension he will be able to compete in training camp and the exhibition season, then set out the first four games. Surely no one would sign him thinking he would be able to play that soon. He is likely going to be signed as a 2nd or 3rd qb on the depth chart.

I agree, he has served his time. But that is legal time served. Now he has to pay the punishment to the NFL like Pac Man, Chris Henry, Jamal Lewis (etc.) and many others had to pay. He won't be the first or last guy to get jail time plus league suspension time.

Exactly:thumb:

No one is signing him with the intent of him being their starter on day one. If so, that team is in bad shape.

I think a suspension is ridiculous to say the least. But I do agree with the idea that a team will still sign him and use those 4 weeks as part of an extended training camp to get him ready. And in all honesty he'll probably need every bit of those 4 weeks.

Gambling ring or killing someone?

Gambling doesn't seem that bad to me compared to what Stallworth or Leonard Little did.

One is a federal offense the other isn't, simple as that.

If a team signed him now, they could use camp for the same purpose. He doesn't need to the extra suspension time to be taught how to run a team's Wildcat package.

If he wants extra reps, his best bet is signing with the UFL and playing in game situations, not an "extended spring training" situation.

The only advantage this has for Vick is that if Goddell issues the suspension, by the time week 5 rolled around there would be a lot more teams that need a QB either because of injury of performance that would be willing to roll the dice on Vick.

He has been under indefinite suspension. Also, none of those other guys spent 2 years in prison.

Who cares if it is a federal offense. It matters in the courts but it shouldn't matter when it comes to the NFL.

Gambling ring to me is bad but does not compare to a someone that drinks and then drives and kills someone. Those players are back in the league quicker than Vick. That is a joke.

You are arguing morality. Morality is irrelevant in a court of law, all that matters is law. I can understand your being upset about it, but that is the way it is.

Frankly I don't care one way or another, I am just pointing that out.

I think Vick should get a full reinstatement. It's not an NFL rule than felons cannot play, and he has been punished enough. He lost two years of his prime, and millions of dollars.

True he committed a horrible crime, but if the government and the laws of the land say that 2 years is the amount of time you should be punished for his cime, who is Roger Goodell to play the judge?

I think that what Vick has done (including lying to Goodell) should be in the past. Give him a 2nd chance. Pacman got an infinite number of chances, Vick should atleast get a 2nd one.

I think it could turn into a great story for both Vick and the NFL.

He did his time, let him play...

I think the solution they came up with is ridiculous. He can join a team, participate in all team activities, but cannot play until Week 6 at the earliest. At that point Goodell will consider him for full reinstatement, which is a fancy way of saying that he's really still techinically suspended indefinitely.

Goodell is a jerk and a joke. NFL was better under Tags.
