Where I live I get this almost daily. No money from me.

Funny, I've never had this happen before. Outside of the usual bums at Reds games I never get approached for money.

In less than 24 hours I had two different guys come upto me at a gas station and explain their story as to why they needed some money from me for gas.

 

First guy was driving an old van that could not have many more days left in it and he and his pregnant girlfriend were trying to get to Columbus but were out of money . Second guy says he and his wife and mother-in-law are trying to get to Cincinnati.

 

I filled up the tank for the first guy. Gave the 2nd guy $5. I think the 2nd guy scammed me.

 

The gas station is getting expensive.

 

Maybe you need to start dressing down.

I make them pull up and pump and then I pay for it. It bothers me to think they may be telling the truth. I can't assume they are all scamming me. I can't help but think about what Jesus said regarding denying the least of his people and how he would deny me. I don't want to take that chance.

This is me, too. I guess I'd rather be wrong and give a "bum" help, then deny someone truly in need.

My usual response when people ask me for a buck or two at the gas station is that I payed with a credit card. :lol:

I did that for the first one. Used my credit card to pay for the gas.

I had a guy ask for a couple of dollars for gas to get his Grandpa and himself back to Hamilton OH about a year ago. I gave him three dollars. If he scammed me, shame on him.

I usually say no. If I knew which ones were telling the truth and which weren't I'd have no problem sparing a few dollars. But I can't tell so I just keep my money.
