In less than 24 hours I had two different guys come upto me at a gas station and explain their story as to why they needed some money from me for gas.

 

First guy was driving an old van that could not have many more days left in it and he and his pregnant girlfriend were trying to get to Columbus but were out of money . Second guy says he and his wife and mother-in-law are trying to get to Cincinnati.

 

I filled up the tank for the first guy. Gave the 2nd guy $5. I think the 2nd guy scammed me.

 

The gas station is getting expensive.

I had a lady come up to me yesterday at a gas station wanting money. I saw her doing the same thing at a gas station no less than 15 miles away a day or two before.

 

I gave her nothing.

I usually give the person a gallon of gas.

 

Enough to get them where their going and only 2 bucks out of my pocket. I however won't give money.

I didn't have it happen at a gas station the last time it happened to me in the EKY area. I was at Walmart last Christmas Eve picking up some last minute gifts with my brother, and a guy came up behind us. I actually think he was going to try to pick our pockets or rob us, but when we turned around he stopped (if you know me or my brother, you know that he is a rather large guy so maybe thats why). He just asked us for some money for gas money to get home like a quarter mile away. I gave him a dollar and some lose change and said "that should be enough to get you home."

 

It's sad that you have to be like that because no doubt people do need help sometimes. Many times I have given money just because I feel like if they feel that they need 5 dollars bad enough to ask a stranger then they must need it worse than I do.

Reminds me of being out with my friends in college on a road trip to Chicago. A bum in a wheelchair was harrassing a friend of mine for money. My buddy said no and the guy got out of the wheelchair and walked toward him cussing. To bad fools ruin it for the good people that really are in a pinch.

I also had a kid I coached get robbed at 7:00 right in the middle of our small town a few weeks ago. A guy came in with a ski mask and he thought it was a friend playing a prank. He was giving the robber a hard time until he pulled a huge knife on him! They finally caught the guy.

I never give people like that money...I never believe their stories.

 

Plus, I need money too! :lol:

Its always best when they come up to you in the middle of Louisville carrying a container telling you their family is stranded ten miles back on I-64.

I never give people money, I'm way too broke all the time. I had a guy ask me last week if he could have some money for food because he hadn't eaten in days. I politely declined because he asked me for food money as I was walking into a liquor store :lol:

Liquor stores are always close to grocery stores, apparently.

Did you guys see the footage of Larry King the other day, He gave him five bucks and he was like why didnt you give me a 20 spot? This is the problem.

The other time I had someone come up to me, I did end up giving them $5 for "gas," only to be told later that she was the town bum and did this to everyone. I was new in town so I didn't know.
