The bolded does play very well into her appeal for some republicans that feel that they are "victims" themselves. When her words resonate with their own fears, they instinctively like her.

Sarah Palin: Help! Help! I'm being repressed!

Liberal Media: Bloody peasant!

Sarah Palin: Oh, what a giveaway! Did you hear that? Did you hear that, eh? That's what I'm on about! Did you see him repressing me? You saw him, Didn't you?

As a result, she'll keep a small group of voters, but she'll not have a more widespread appeal. Who will emerge as the viable republican candidate? Who knows, but it won't be Palin.

I've don't know anyone that is conservative that feels they're a "victim"

I believe that it's all perspective.

Doesn't Palin complain of the liberal media? Aren't white protestant males the most discriminated against group? Doesn't Uncle Sam take too much of "your" money? Couldn't you invest your retirement money better than social security is going to be worth for you? Doesn't Obama want to the government to make your medical decisions for you?

These are all talking points and obviously the "you" is meant to be broad. However, it plays to the "victim" mentality that some are drawn to.

Gotta love a Python/Holy Grail reference in P&R.:thumb:

Too polarzing. Will never be POTUS.

Palin will be valuable as a fundraiser for many Republican candidates nationwide, and she will make some pretty good coin on the conservative speaking circuit.

I think that she and Carrie Prejean are both doing the right thing for themselves to strike out on the private circuit and make some money off of their "niche," as westsider has aptly put it.

I don't believe that she was ever a VIABLE candidate. It would take a remarkable makeover to make her one in the next three years.

I agree with all of this, except I believe that Palin believes that she can win the nomination. I don't think SHE thinks SHE'S finished.

If the Majority of Republicans still think that She is , She is .

She has name recognition and she can raise money. So yes, though I'm not a fan per say.

You could always give us your opinion now, and then two years from now we can tell you how wrong you are. Doesn't that sound fun?

Irrelevant what I or any one else thinks right now.

But in hindsight, I shouldn't have made the original post I did in this thread. If folks want to provide their opinion, so be it. My apologies to formerkywrestler.

Although I dont think that she is thr republican partys best nominee, I dont think she has done anything for us to say that she isnt a viable opponent. Polls are showing her popularity running in the 70s and there is a long time between now and 2012. And remember that she has nothing else to do but campaign and raise money. We may all be surprised!
