This isn't a poll of if you'd vote for her or not. It's just a poll of how viable of a candidate is she.

 

I for one think she ruined any aspirations she may have had for POTUS.

I think it is very, very tough to say definitively, but barring major changes, I do not think so. Her public image has been destroyed (regardless of whether or not you think it was fair) and too many people have a horrible perception of her.

The question is kind of like "Did you stop beating your wife?". I never thought she was a viable candidate for POTUS to start with, but I disagree with some of the conservative pundits that think that her resignation was excellent strategery for a future run at national office. I think the hole is just a little bit deeper now.

I almost put that as an option in the poll. If you want to use your super powers to do so, that would be cool.

I don't know that Palin will ever be more than a niche candidate, one that lacks much appeal beyond the right wing.

According to a CNN poll yesterday, 7 out of 10 Republicans said they would vote for her, 34% Independents, & 17% Democrats....Or roughly the same number that would have before she announced she was going to resign.

True, but what is more scientific- CNN or a BGP poll with a sample size of 9?

I'll re-post my thoughts from the other thread on Palin's viability:

 

Palin's ineptitudes have been insulated among the Republican "base" by the charge that the media and liberals have unfairly attacked her, thus those criticisms and perceptions of her incompetence can be brushed aside easily. So far, she's merely had to continue to play the victim of a conspiratorial boogeyman without becoming proficient in the policy areas she was so weak on last year. Things will change for her tremendously when these criticisms begin to come from the likes of Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney and whoever else throws their Republican hat into the ring. Gone will be the days of playing victim as she will be forced to discuss policy with Republicans who know it far better or accept the exposition of her weaknesses. And I don't see how she will keep her head afloat.

So, no, I don't think she has a chance to win the Republican primary, let alone the White House.

No, she will find a way to mess up. To much time between now and the next election.

Since campaigning is pretty much non-stop these days, I would say this is a fairly relevant time.

The bolded does play very well into her appeal for some republicans that feel that they are "victims" themselves. When her words resonate with their own fears, they instinctively like her. As a result, she'll keep a small group of voters, but she'll not have a more widespread appeal. Who will emerge as the viable republican candidate? Who knows, but it won't be Palin.
