Belfry beats the token rep from the west for the third straight year!

Sarcasm in that post, Fletch??? :D

Ft. Campbell has all the talent to win it all, but they have for the past two seasons.

Belfry is young and I think they are one year away from being a legitimate title contender again. But who knows?

Prestonsburg has a good shot if they can stop their losing streak to Belfry. The district game between the two may determine who represents Region 4 Dostrict 8 in the Semi-finals.

Russell, IMO, based on what they are returning could be the favorite to represent the east. But like Belfry, they lost their key player(s) to graduation.

As always, it will be wide open in the East. The West has seemed to have a flat-out favorite the past two seasons only to see them fall before the big dance (O'Cath in '03 & Ft. Campbell in '04). Should be entertaining to say the least.

Well, for all of you that have picked Ft. Campbell to win it all and not even thought about Leslie County, they got beat by Leslie in the UK Passing Scrimmage today. I guess Leslie should get consideration now.

No, not really, 58. Passing league games give us little or no indication of overall team strength in the fall. It's nice to do well in the passing leagues, but they are a different animal altogether from team ball.

Belfry is a PRIME example of that. They rarely show well in passing league games.

Running the football and defending against the run competently still comprises 70-80% of what it takes to win consistantly at the high school level.

I don't think Belfry will be a contender since they got West Virginia out of the backfield. ie......David Jones and Doug Howard

The pipeline from WV to Belfry never runs dry. :sssh:

Young football players across the river are always looking for a place to get a "better education"... ;)

No special teams, no line play, no field position decisions...all three of which are missing from 7/7 but are major aspects come game night.

I'll be quietly pulilng for the Jugs this season. I know they're not the favorite, but this years team has the best shot in a while. The backfield is solid and I'd stack them up against just about any 2A school in the state. Depth is an issue, but it usually is at the 2A level. Most of these kids have been playing on the varsity level since they were sophmores, and some of them since they were freshman. There experienced, versatile, talented, well coached football players. I think they can do it. Good Luck Juggs. :thumb: :sssh:

I would say that is true of the lower divisions, but when we talk about 3A and 4A, I think that more balance is needed. But hey, we are in 2A, and if a team can win by not being good in all areas, so be it. . . . . .
