Happy Gilmore answered it well. AA, more than any other class, has been in flux the most with all the teams that have entered and then left its ranks over the last 10 years. Mayfield and Danville used to dominate the class ('87 to '98) and then Boyle had their two year run before moving up to AAA (won AA in '99 and '00).

It's a class with good football that is very balanced from top to bottom.

Well i know you guys are not going to give my Newport Wildcats any love. So i am going to say i think they will have a shot at it. They have alot of starters back, and they have a new coaching and new game plan. I think they will have a shot if they step up and play this year. GO NEWPORT!

Yes, very deep. This is the best team I have seen come along at Leslie in a lot of years. They have more talent than what the '94 and '95 region champs had. They could possibly be better than those teams.

 

 

I really, really doubt they have talent than the '94 team. And I seriously doubt they are as talented as the '95 team.

 

But only time will tell.

The O-line made leaps and bounds during spring practice. They have mostly worked out their weaknesses and should be very strong. They have also stepped up in the weight room with the projected starters benching as follows:

LT- Jerry Caudill: 365 lbs.

LG- John Horton: 300 lbs.

C- Jared Turner: 265 lbs.

RG- David Smith??: 255 lbs.

RT- still questionable.

They are also very deep at line with at least 3 backups benching over 240 lbs... and they are just sophomores.

 

 

That's pretty impressive. What grade are each of the probable starters.

Leslie will never have a better team that the teams with Couch. Plain and simple.

Oh yes, my pick. I have a good feeling about my Cats, but I do every year. So, take them out of the equation and I have Fort Campbell over Russell. :devil:

 

 

Call me crazy- I just don't see Ft. Campbell in the State Championship. I have watched them over the years and yes they have some of the best athletes I have seen and that got some studs this year. I'll believe it when I see it. They seem to not win the big game, that is just a fact, maybe the tide will turn this year. Ft. Campbell will be a good representive for the western part of the state, but they have a lot to prove before I believe. It just blows my mind how athletic they are and how everyone every year says they are going to state and they just never quite make it. Anyway Good Luck to Ft.Campbell this year.

You're quite right, but I'd still rather have talent than not. One of these years all that Ft. Campbell talent will gel.

Russell has competitive teams every year. Some are better than others. It goes without saying that Russell lost arguable the best player ever to put on a uniform and that being Josh Gross. You cannot replace a player with his talents but you can reload the wing-T. Russell always has excellent running backs every year. Clark will step up to the plate along with the 6 or 8 others looking for a starting job. I see Russell running the regular season schedule with a loss to Boyd County. This will wake them up for the real season and the games that count toward the playoffs. I see Russell playing one of them great mountain teams for a chance to go to the big show. Russell will have the advantage with the game being played at Henry R. Evans stadium this year in front of a large crowd. From there I really don't care who they play in Louisville, :fire: but I do care who wins. No disappointments this year. Russell wins it all. :fire:

They have been close two out of the last three years. It would be nice to see Coach McGlone get another state championship after coming close so many times.
