Billy Mays dead

What did Fox News do that hurt their credibility?

I don't watch cable news and I'm not making a statement on their accuracy. I'm just noting that Fox News is treated with skepticism, but a fine journalistic insitution like TMZ couldn't be wrong!

After Michael Jackson passed news organizations like Fox News and CNN were receiving e-mails about other celebs passing. So, with Mays passing away just days afterward, one has to be careful. Why not let TMZ take the heat if the report is false. It was just being cautious on Fox's part.

On a side note, Fox is now reporting that it may have been heart disease that caused his death. The autopsy was finished a little while ago.

Mays told a FOX 13 reporter that he was returning from the filming of an Oxyclean commercial in Philadelphia, according to the station.

"All of a sudden as we hit you know it was just the hardest hit, all the things from the ceiling started dropping," he said. "It hit me on the head, but I got a hard head."

Mays posted to his Twitter soon after the accident, "Just had a close call landing in Tampa. The tires blew out upon landing. Stuck in the plane on the runway. You can always count on US Air."

Oxyclean was the first product I ever saw Billy Mays pitch; seems like it was 20 years ago.

Apparently the cause of death for pitchman Billy Mays was head trauma from a hard landing on US Airways Flight 1241 when it blew out the tires upon landing. Baggage landed on his head causing internal brain trauma.

"All of a sudden as we hit, you know it was just the hardest hit," Mays said at the airport on Saturday. "The things from the ceiling started dropping and it hit me on the head, but I got a hard head."

Mays' wife told investigators the TV personality did not feel well before he went to bed that night. Tampa police spokeswoman Laura McElroy said linking Mays' death to the rough landing Saturday afternoon would "purely be speculation"

This is pretty crazy and sad. I just watched an episode of Conan O'brien that I had DVR'd from not to long ago and Mays was on the show. He looked fine and watching it was kind of creepy knowing he just died a few days after that. Very sad too.

It's crazy how something like that can happen and you don't really even know that you're hurt that bad.

I somehow looked over this thread. I was very sorry to hear of May's death. I will be the first to tell anyone that his commercials, infomercials and wildly screaming style (along with the shamwow guy) aggravated me to no end, sometimes I would turn the t.v. off and/or always will mute the sound. That however has nothing to do with his death or how I feel about that.

I have watched Mays on a couple of different news, talk show type scenerios and he seemed to be a very nice man. Mays talked about family, he was obviously a good family man. I saw an interview with May's son (forgot which show) after his death and it was heart wrenching.

I am sorry to hear of his death and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family. May Billy Mays R.I.P..

:thumb: That just goes to send a message to all of us...............No one is promised a tommorrow, we never know what tommorrow (or later today for that matter) may bring.

I thougt I herd on the news that they found out he had a Heart Disease and this was the cause of death. Here are some links to the death.

TAMPA, Florida (CNN) -- TV pitchman Billy Mays' death appeared to be from heart disease, not a bump to the head, according to the Hillsborough County medical examiner.

The autopsy conducted Monday morning revealed Mays suffered from hypertensive heart disease, Adams said.

There was evidence that Mays had hypertensive heart disease and hardening of the arteries, Hillsborough County Medical Examiner Vernard Adams said today.

There was a thickening of the wall of the left ventricle of the heart and a thickening of the walls of an artery supplying the heart, an autopsy found. Adams said such heart disease is capable of causing sudden death.

The official cause of death is being withheld until complete autopsy results are available, which could take six to eight weeks.

There had been speculation that he received a blow to the head Saturday during a rough airplane landing, as well as speculation about a blood clot migrating from his leg to his heart.

There were no signs of head trauma or blood clots, Adams said at a news conference.

^ :thumb: All reports that I was hearing on Fox News last nght and this morning were pointing to his death was heart related.

Yes, he died of heart disease. There was no head trauma found on autopsy.

Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die!

My wife's uncle is performing the funeral mass.

Maybe Frank Travalena was impersonating Billy Mays instead of Michael Jackson...............it wasn't a real good impersonation.:idunno::eyeonyou:
