There is just one starter returning from Elliot County's "fab five" of Evan Faulkner, Ethan Faulkner, Chris Knipp, Timmy Knipp and Jonathon Ferguson. Seems to me Elliot County will be rebuilding in a big way.

Elliott will be nowhere like they have been for the past 5 years. But they will not be a push over will beat some teams during the year but not one of the top 4 or 5 teams in the region.

Elliott should still be contenders in the 16th next year.

Elliott should still be contenders in the 16th next year.

You may be right, but I don't see them able to contending for a regional crown considering that I think it's likely they may be the 3rd best team in their district. I suppose that remains to be seen. Can't discount them in the region considering that they have one of, if not the best player in the region in Knipp.

I upgrade him from being the best player in the region to the best player in the STATE! Don't understand why Timmy doesn't get the respect he deserves for being one of the best this state has to offer. The Lions will be right back in the hunt next year if the Ison kid improves some and the point guard situation is taken care of. Remember they will start two kids with height of 6'8 and 6'6 next year--impressive for high school ball!

Easy now! But I also think Elliott will be in the hunt in the 16th.

They'll be a contender if they have a couple of guys ready to step in and take some of the load of Knipp. He should be the best player in the region, and I suspect he's better than a lot of people realize because he didn't get to shine with all the good players they had last year. He was capable of more last season, so he'll be able to pick up some of the slack and account for some of what they lost, IMO.

They'll be better than a lot of people expect simply because they have the best player. I suspect he'll need some help to win the region.

We might have a better idea of what to expect if the Lions had developed the bench and underclassmen a little more in some of their runaway wins over the past couple of years.

They may return only one starter but next year's starters had to practice against the reigning champs everyday. That has to count for something.

If they get out of the district anything is possible but whomever takes over the coaching duties could have been left in a whole lot better shape had Coach Mayse developed his bench the last 3-4 years!

Well, then I'll start this off by saying that I don't think that they can beat East, and will have their hands full with West. Knipp is very good, perhaps the best in the region, but best in the state is a bit much no matter how overzealous we get.

High school basketball is still for the most part a guard-oriented game. Elliott County MUST have a floor general to get the ball to Knipp and Ison.

For those who claim he isn't the best I ask how many times have you watched him play? Timmy Knipp could probably play all five positions on the floor, at his height who else in the state could do that. His jump shot is fluid, mechanically sound handles the ball good and can go down low to dominate by blocking shots or altering many! This kid is the real deal and like I stated earlier he doesn't get the needed respect he has earned!

I think that he's right up there with the tops in his class. And I have seen him play for many, many games. Not just high school, but AAU as well.
