Beechwoodfan Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 Has anyone been on this site? I initially got interested because my kids were on it all the time. I actually reconnected with some old friends and have enjoyed the site. However......I see a lot of the younger folk posting pictures, videos and comments that worry me. I am astounded at some of the things I see. It is as if these kids could not care less about what others see or think. Way back in the third grade, I passed a bad note to a girl I didn't like. She told her mom who passed the note to my mom. I thought I was in real hot water. My mother looked at me and said.....If you have something to say, SAY IT!. Do not put it in writing. Great advice. Now, with the internet...things seem to last forever. My mother would be beside herself, as am I. Thoughts?
kysportsfan4life Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 I agree. I love facebook, but am astounded when I see some of the things that these young kids are saying and doing!
TheDeuce Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 Some people just are stupid when it comes to what they put on Facebook. It's the best social networking site on the net, IMO, and there are lots of great things about it. I've been addicted for 4 years.
True blue (and gold) Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 I've been on FB for over 6 months now and have 200+ former and current students (I a high school teacher) as friends. I haven't heard/seen anything that concerns me...yet.
Musketeer_alum97 Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 I am on facebook almost every day. I, too, have seen things that disturb me, but its still the best way for me to keep up with friends and family.

ADopted ADmiral Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 Yea I think it is cool...Just found a old friend on there the other day...I have not talked to that guy in 26 years...
Ms Liberty Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 I like it if you just keep up with friends, not just anybody.

I haven't heard/seen anything that concerns me...yet.I have to agree with you. I have well over 100 "friends" and have never seen anything to be concerned about. Not saing it doesn't happen, but I guess it just depends on with whom you choose to be friends. :idunno:
MJAlltheWay24 Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 I really like Facebook because I use it almost more than use e-mail. However, there is all kinds of dumb stuff people put on their. I don't understand it sometimes.
sweet16 Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 However, there is all kinds of dumb stuff people put on their. I don't understand it sometimes. A lot of employers are now looking at facebook and seeing that dumb stuff.
getalife Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 I see things that bother me on FB. Kids and young adults post pictures of themselves drinking, drunk, and in other scenarios that they will one day regret. Same thing with sexting. (The sending of pornographic pics and messages via tex message) and if you think it is not happening in your local high school (and middle school) you are sadly mistaken. I enjoy FB and have connected with friends and family whom I haven't seen in years.
