Bad News on Jodie Meeks

Featured Replies

I would love for Meeks to return but I wish him the best either way.

If I were a GM with the 15th pick and extras and I wanted a projected second rounder badly, I would have a dilemna. It would be nice to pick him up where he is projected or just above, but he will probably withdraw if he isnt projected to go higher. If only there was a way to get him to stay in the draft and pick him up later..........

This is what I am thinking too. The only way to get Jodie to stay in the draft is to hint that you might take him first round. I doubt the Pistons would use their 15th on him, but they very well might take him with a 2nd round pick if he stays in the draft.

The Pistons are my favorite team and if I had to pick a team for Jodie to go to it'd be Detroit...just not this year though :D

I would wish him the best of luck with the Pistons if he were to be picked there. They are in a rebuilding phase and he could probably fit in nicely. Would hate to see him go though.

Same here.

Stupid move if the Pistons do indeed take Meeks that high, he isn't that good and both parties would regret the decision.

I agree...Meeks could become a decent NBA player when he learns to create a shot for himself. But the Pistons need a lot of help right now at a few other key positions. The 2 that Meeks can play are taken by players with much more talent than himself in Rip and Tayshaun

I selfishly want Meeks back at UK. But if he can go 15, that would be great for him.

I wish Meeks all the luck in the world, but I just don't think he's ready for the NBA right now. He's a shooter, and those guys are aplenty in the pros. He needs another year of college to work on some glaring problems, namely ball handling, passing skills, and the ability to create a shot on his own instead of catch and shoot.. These shortcomings will show up immeadiately in the NBA. I can't see the Pistons going out on a limb to select him at #15.

Great for him, not for me as a fan. I want him back, even if he ends up losing money next year.

Guys, I can guarantee you Dumars didn't want to downgrade in talent, but economics demanded it. What does it say about your team's financial state when you're contacting fans of the opposing team in a playoff series begging them to come to your arena on a discount?

Look at what happened this year in the NBA. Almost zero major moves at the trade deadline. Plenty of teams needed pieces to their puzzle, but most stood pat so they wouldn't take on the extra payroll.

That has more to do with what is coming up with FA's in the next 2 years more than anything.

With the infusion of talent heading to Lexington next year, it is very unlikely that Jodie will be scoring in the 30's, 40's & 50's. His NBA draft stock may well have reached its apex. I would love to see Jodie return next year and think he would be a major contributer on a team likely to make a serious run at the Final Four. But, if he can convert his incredible 08-09 season into some legal tender I say go for it. Best of luck and God's speed.

^ same thing I said.. his stats really have nowhere to go but down. However, he can become a better basketball player.

IMO, Cals offense will benefit him greatly. What did he struggle with last year? Driving to the basket, passing, limiting turnovers, all things Cal focuses on.

I would certainly wish Meeks the best if he goes to the NBA but as first and foremost a college basketball fan, especially a Kentucky Wildcat fan I am selfish and want to see Meeks return.

Lets see now and just supposing this starting 5 with Meeks coming back......(and this is just one possibility of a few that would look very good)

pg- Wall

2g - Meeks

c/f - Orton

f - Cousins

pf - Patterson

:thumb: I agree but with the $$$ going in the 1st round, I wouldn't like it but couldn't blame him.

He is not guarenteed a first round pick IMO. Early Second at best IMO.
