Wireman Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Depending on how you look at it... It looks like the Detroit Pistons may possibly select Jodie with the 15th overall pick in the first round. If that happens, he will likely stay in the draft. http://www.detnews.com/article/20090522/UPDATE/905220425/1361/Pistons-work-out-draft-possibilities
00Rocket28 Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Nothing in that article leads me to believe Meeks would be their pick. Any of the other 19 players could just as easily will be that pick based on that article
Wireman Posted May 22, 2009 Author Posted May 22, 2009 Nothing in that article leads me to believe Meeks would be their pick. Any of the other 19 players could just as easily will be that pick based on that article It specifically says the 15th pick will be either Budinger or Meeks.
Wireman Posted May 22, 2009 Author Posted May 22, 2009 "Of those, only two would be considered for the first-round pick (15th) -- Arizona small forward Chase Budinger and Kentucky shooting guard Jodie Meeks."
MJAlltheWay24 Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 I would wish him the best of luck with the Pistons if he were to be picked there. They are in a rebuilding phase and he could probably fit in nicely. Would hate to see him go though.
Wireman Posted May 22, 2009 Author Posted May 22, 2009 I would be happy for Jodie if he gets to be the 15th overall pick. That would be a nice payday for him.
tenaciousD Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 That would be a major strech for the 15th pick of the draft. Dumars may be finding himself another job soon.

The Pistons have a lot of picks in the draft including the 36th pick. So they have to know that they could probably still get meeks with the 36th pick. Or possibly trade up a few picks just to make sure.
MountainThunder Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 That would be a major strech for the 15th pick of the draft. Dumars may be finding himself another job soon. He did such a great job in building that team, but then began to dismantle it. I think based on his past history, he has a few more years to rebuild in Detroit.
tenaciousD Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 ^ I agree wholeheartedly. I just couldn't believe after assembling such a stellar cast of players, that he would allow the roster to be turned into what it is now. Jodie would be a continuation of his terrible moves, IF he is taken 15th overall.

Jodie would be a continuation of his terrible moves, IF he is taken 15th overall. Jodie moves very well without the ball and will get plenty of open looks, and will be a big time scorer in time. Not a bad pick imho. Btw, who would you take with the pick?
Da champ Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 When the Pistons traded Billups for Iverson that was a 180 for them. Pistons need a point guard and a power forward more than a 2 guard they have Rip at the 2 and Tayshaun at the 3. Can't see that being the place for Meeks.
CatsCatsCats Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 I couldn't imagine a team taking Jodie at 15. He really needs some work to be a starter in the NBA.

What does it say about your team's financial state when you're contacting fans of the opposing team in a playoff series begging them to come to your arena on a discount? Look at what happened this year in the NBA. Almost zero major moves at the trade deadline. Plenty of teams needed pieces to their puzzle, but most stood pat so they wouldn't take on the extra payroll.

Btw, who would you take with the pick? Buddinger I think has much more upside, and Meeks was a big time scorer against the worst Power conference possibly of all-time. He will be an undersized 2 in the NBA, and won't be able to create his shot nearly as effectively against NBA talent as he did against mediocre teams. I am a big Meeks fan, but I believe it would be a very big strech Come on guys, there has to be a reason I have yet to see a mock draft in which he is drafted period. It is a huge strech, especially since he could be taken much much lower than that with the Pistons.
