Aiden Seamus Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Just wondering if anyone else has tried the Pepsi Cola and Mountain Dew Throwbacks? If so, what are your thoughts? Like it? Love it? Hate it? For those who don't know - Pepsi and Mountain Dew have released so-called "throwback" versions of their sodas. The throwbacks contain only natural sugar, no high fructose corn syrup. They also have old-school logos on the bottle with the word "throwback" underneath. If you haven't tried one yet, I recommend it. IMO, the taste is slightly sweeter, with less bite. Not a HUGE difference, but noticeable. I prefer the Mountain Dew Throwback over the Pepsi Throwback. However, when I was buying a Pepsi Throwback earlier today, I overheard a guy saying he hated the "throwback" versions. If I have the option, I will continue to purchase the Throwback versions over the "regular" versions.
Hangman Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 I'm an avid Pepsi drinker... I can't go without one in my hand as bad as that is... I don't even really have to be drinking it, I just have to have it with me. Anyways, that's beside the point. I don't mind the Throwback Pepsi at all... If given a same price choice, I'd take the regular.. But a bottle of the throwback at Food City was 79 cents and regular was $1.49... I bought the cheaper and after a few drinks couldn't even really tell a difference. I'll take that bargain any time I can get it.
Jumpman4004 Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 I have had the Pepsi throwback and thought it was very good.... I didn't know that there was a Mountain Dew throwback. Ill have to look for that next time I am out.
nees1212 Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 I've been looking for this stuff for weeks. If anyone finds it in the NKY area, please let me know. On another board, the guys on the west coast and east coast have been talking about it for weeks, and I cannot find it in our area. Almost everyone that's tried it that I know says they like it better.
PepRock01 Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 I like the Pepsi stuff but not the Dew. The Dew is too citrusy in my opinion.

MJAlltheWay24 Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 I didn't know that they were doing either of these...might look for them.
RockPride Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 While neither option is very good for you, natural sugar is much better than the man made fructose option.
halfback20 Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 I try not to drink any regular sodas very often. If I drink any it's diet dr. pepper...but I might try one of these.
Baseballguy Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 I'm wondering the same thing. Where can you find it? Most of the K-Marts have them.
dolamite Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Haven't tried the Mountain Dew Throwback yet, but Pepsi Throwback kind of had a diet taste to it, thus I think I will stick to the original.
formerkywrestler Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 I RARELY drink any sodas anyways. But apparently they release versions of this during passover every year. A coworker of mine has brought in the coke version. It is definitely better than the version with HFCS.
threetimelover Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 I saw the Pepsi Throwback last night in one of those coolers at the checkout in Walmart. I didn't know what they were and the bottle kind of took me aback at first. I thought "what the heck is that?" I did not buy it or try it because I only drink the diet versions of those drinks--the full stuff is too syrupy for me.
MountainThunder Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 I tried the Mtn Dew throwback and it has a bit of the Diet soda taste to me. Didn't like it.
