If You Were God, 10 Things You'd Ban From Television

Featured Replies

TV annoys me more and more every day.

Here is my list:

1. Girls Gone Wild an phone "companionship" advertisements

2. ExTenze, Cialis, and Enzyte commercials

3. Any commercial regarding feminine hygiene products

4. Commercials about herpes simplex pills and their ilk

5. Commercials touting gas relief

6. Daytime talk, including The View, Oprah, Jerry Springer, Sally Jessie, and similar programs, and certain nightimte talk to include Nancy Grace, Bill Maher, Larry King, anything on MSNBC, and (believe it or not) Sean Hannity, Greta Van Susteren, and Geraldo Rivera. Bill O'Reilly can stay.

7. Any television show, of any kind, purporting to be reality TV and showing as its primary focus people living together or people trying to get hooked up with one another (Bachelor and Bachelorette). Other so-called "reality" TV showing various kinds of competitions (Top Chef, Dancing With Stars, Survivor, Donald Trump's show) are tolerated.

8. That channel that has nothing but made-for-TV-movies for women where everyone is a victim and everyone's always crying.

9. QVC. However, other infomercials with Billy Mayes or that talk about sending it 4 easy payments of $19.99 for great ginsu steak knives, those are OK.

10. AXE body spray commercials.

I hate TV. I feel like getting cable is a waste of my money. If there was a package that allowed me to get ESPN and all showings of The Office, I'd be so happy. Actually, considering how much I consider watching TV a waste of time, I'd literally consider just getting the ESPN's and all showings of The Office for the same price. Then I wouldn't find myself wasting away in front of the tube any more.

I tend to agree, but I enjoy several programs on ESPN, The History Channel, A&E and the Food Network. Without cable, there would be no 'Dirty Jobs with Mike Roe,' no 'Diners, Dives and Drive-Thrus' with Guy Fieri, and none of A&E's excellent documentaries.

HGTV.

Ohhh! I missed that one. If I come home just one more time to see my wife watching some house fix-it-up show so she can hand me a list . . .

I am going to have to disagree with you on HGTV. I think they have pretty good programming.

^ I didn't know Mrs. Hearsay was on BGP :D

If you DVR things, you don't have to put up with the crap that you don't want to watch.

I try to record just about everything that I watch. It saves time and you can watch it at your convenience.

The best show on TV right now is Rules of Engagement.

Next best show is The Office.

I also watch Two & A Half Men, Gary Unmarried, some South Parks, and an occassional program here or there. The rest of it is sports...NBA, MLB, NFL, college hoops, etc.

I don't mind the Girls Gone Wild Commercials one bit. But then again, I don't have any children, either.

^ My roommates were watching Gary Unmarried yesterday. I don't think I've ever watched a more predictable show in my life.
