Why, so it looks good on paper? Or we can just abuse the bullpen some more for no reason. This is the last thing I thought someone would complain about tonight.

I wasn't actually trying to complain about it because like you said a loss is a loss. It doesnt affect me either way. Perhaps they should have had Lincoln in to work on his ERA some. Janish needs to be working with his glove at SS...not pitching.

Why does it matter what their ERA is?

A loss is a loss no matter if its 2-1 or 20-1. No point in running out another bullpen pitcher when your have 4 big games coming up

So your telling me it doesnt affect your team differently if you lose by a few runs rather than 20?

Janish only pitched the 9th.

Maybe a high school team....

Ok im done. Maybe Votto will be on the mound tomorrow.

 I really have no idea why you would think that it is a good idea to keep burning up the bullpen for no reason.

You're simply making way to big a deal out of this. A loss is a loss. The team will move on and play again tomorrow. There's a reason the season is 162 games. Much ado about nothing....

These guys are professionals. As long as the other team is just up there playing it straight up and not swinging at 3-0 pitches with a big lead or stealing bases then the margin isn't going to have a lasting effect. The bullpen was already used and Lincoln's ERA doesn't mean squat to the the team but if they would have used him for another inning and then had to use their better relievers the next couple of days outside of their roles because they used Lincoln up then it could have hurt the team for a few days. Janish is young, isn't a starter and was willing to take one for the team. Nothing wrong with it. This isn't about margin of victory or style points. These guys get paid to do this and they shake it off. Otherwise the Red Sox would have given up down 3-0 after getting crushed in game 3 of the 2004 ALCS or the Rays would have quit last season when the Sox beat them down in game 6 of the ALCS. As long as there is another day you come back and play harder. You should learn the game a little bit better.

Why would they get Janish to throw batting practice in the end. I feel sorry for the poor guy...Fielder abused him once.

Happens a lot in blowout games. I remember Dave Concepcion pitching in a game for the Reds in the late 70's early 80's. There have been other Reds as well. I know it's happened at least once this season already with another team. It's no big deal.

Honestly, who didn't see this one coming. Reds come off another successful road trip, and come home, and look pitiful once again. :ohbrother:

The whiffle ball pitcher. A. I wish he'd throw more fastballs B. I wish he'd get a haircut. C. I wish we could package him with E5 for a power hitter. D. I wish I'd wake up and smell the coffee.

Glad I missed it. I am in agreement with those that believe the Janish appearance is a non issue. We have too many that put hittinig and pitching stats ahead of the W's and L's.

I believe it was Nick Swisher that pitched against the Red Sox earlier this year. Perhaps AJG could verify that.
