Track The Reds (Week 5)

I believe it was Nick Swisher that pitched against the Red Sox earlier this year. Perhaps AJG could verify that.

I think you're right, LRCW.

And Swisher wasn't throwing 90.

The Reds are now 4-8 at home and 10-5 on the road. The Braves and Phillies are the only other Teams in Baseball who also are below .500 at home and above .500 on the road. Anyone have a theroy on why this occurs?

Nick Swisher has pitched this season but it was against the Rays. Red Sox outfielder Jonathan Van Every also pitched against the Rays last weekend in the 13-0 blowout.

As long as you aren't pitching one of your stars or someone who is not used to throwing regularly it should be a non-issue. Save the bullpen if you can.

Could it have something to do with the fact that the Reds team ERA is 5.50 at home and 2.79 on the road? I don't think the Reds pitchers have the same confidence pitching at GABP. They've given up 4 more homers at home in 27.1 less innings pitched. The offense averages 4.1 games on the road and 3.6 at home so there is some disparity there but nothing like the ERA disparity.

Gomes homered again last night. Bring him up. He would only play against leftys which he hits much better.

Nix has been pounding it. Lets see what he can do. The Reds need a win tonight.

Is it time to let McDonald go and call up Hopper? He looks to be back to '07 form.

After giving up 15 runs last night the Reds pitchers ERA went up to 3.99,which is 5th in NL.

I don't get the posts I read about the team ERA getting worse at the end, who cares? Why is that even an issue? Isn't it about winning and losing? I'm glad they saved some wear on the pen because that helps them in the NEXT game, that game was lost, let it go and prepare for the next one. Throwing more innings on your pen is not the answer, I applaud the move to pitch Janish.

New lineup. Phillips and Votto out sick, and the Cards are coming to town. Ain't that great. :irked:

Nix the new everyday LF? Sounds like he may have his chance.

Laynce Nix was in the lineup in left field Thursday. It sounds like it could be a lasting change.

“I talked to (Chris) Dickerson,” Dusty Baker said. “I said, ‘hey man, you’ve got to go back to work. Nix is going good right now.’ It’s about winning ballgames. I’m not saying it’s all his fault. But Nix is doing his thing.”

Nix is hitting .353 overall. He ranks second on the club with six doubles in just 34 at-bats. Thursday’s start was his fifth overall and third in the left. Dickerson, who’s started 15 games, is hitting .217. with 21 strikeouts in 60 at-bats.

No Votto/Phillips= another long night.:isurrender:

That's a terrible misplay by Taveras. Things like that is what gets you beat.
