Track The Reds (Week 5)

Featured Replies

I'm not sure why he is hitting McDonald 6th, or even why McDonald is in the lineup. Just gives a little more credence to my pm doesn't it Clyde, GT?

Taveras 8

Hairston 5

Votto 3

Phillips 4

Bruce 9

McDonald 7

Hanigan 2

Janish 6

Arroyo 1

If I was forced to use these players, with the way they are hitting right now, I would move Janish to the 2 hole, put Hanigan at the 6 spot and Haiston 7. McDonald should not hit higher than 8th.

As I noted sometime last season, I am amazed at Hairston's "favored veteran" status with the Reds, treatment he certainly didn't get from Dusty when they were together at Chicago. For half a season, Dusty seemed determined to start anybody but Hairston at 2B when he was clearly the best choice on the roster.

What has or did Gomes do to deserve to be in the minors and McDonald be on this roster. This is this year Dusty's Corey Patterson!!!!:confused:

I'll bite. What info/theory did you give up in the PM?

Ok, I'm clueless as to why Nix isn't getting the ABs. He's produced every time thus far.

Also, anyone else know the Reds record in games Janish starts at SS? :D

McDonald has 25 at-bats in the Reds' first 26 games. The Patterson comparison is totally invalid.

Nix doesn't have the veteran pedigree that Baker appreciates.

I'll go on and answer ... 4-0, albeit against a very less than stellar group of opposing pitchers.

Huh? If anyone is this years Corey Patterson it is Dickerson. Even though its obvious to everyone that Lance Nix should be the one playing more right now. Dusty Baker still usually picks Dickerson over Nix.

Heck, just a few months ago some Reds fans on here were ready to anoint Dickerson as a future star. Maybe Dusty believed it, too.

The only reason I can come up with is that he likes having a bat like Nix being available to pitch hit. However considering the Reds offensive struggles, you would think that he would want Nix to get more at bats in a game than just one at most. I really don't get Bakers thinking on some things.

I know I still think Dickerson can be a good one. However right now Nix has the better bat than Dickerson. So go with the hot hand, this team can use as much offense as it can get. Then when he starts to cool down, then maybe go back to Dickerson more.

Does a whopping 31 at-bats in 26 games constitute a "hot hand?"

Neither do Dickerson or McDonald.....:idunno:

I believe they do.

I think I know what Dusty's doing, he wants to have a left handed bat off the bench late in the game. He doesn't have the confidence in Dickerson as a late game pinch hitter, so he keeps Nix in his pocket. Do I agree with this? No
