April 28, 200917 yr Who's the next to leave? Stewart? And if he's next, who's after him to make room (if Wall wants to come)? I could see Harrellson still leaving.
April 28, 200917 yr I could see Harrellson still leaving. Harrellson has recently stated that he wants to stay. Whether or not that happens in the end is up to UK and Coach Calipari.

April 28, 200917 yr I could see Harrellson still leaving. Heard he was looking good and fitting in the system and would be staying.
April 28, 200917 yr Never really saw so many people rooting for kids to "fail" so the ycan move on and so UK can get other players. Sad what some people want the program to become. Integrity and keeping your word as a University have no place in this rebuilding process.

If he agreed to it, why do you have such a problem with it?

Integrity and keeping your word as a University have no place in this rebuilding process. I definitely do not want these kids to fail, but it seems naïve to think that "purging" and "turnover" doesn't happen. Even at a program like Kentucky this kind of thing has become common place. And in all honesty why should an athletic scholarship run for 4 years regardless of performance when academic and other types of scholarships hinge on it? It's unrealistic to think that a coach wouldn't want to have a roster of his own players as quickly as possible when his livelihood is at stake and when we live in a world demanding quick fixes and instant gratification.
April 28, 200917 yr Stewart will be next imo. Yes, from I read the other day, Stewart will not be a Wildcat next year.
April 28, 200917 yr It’s not that I'm rooting for them to fail, just tired of watching a lot of bad basketball! I would love to see a season where we lose less than 7 games!
April 28, 200917 yr Donald Williams agreed to this. He knew he was getting a scholarship for one year. If he agreed to it, why do you have such a problem with it? I think it's expected that you'll have changes with a new coach. MOST of the time, it's actually the player that decides to leave... either because he just doesn't care for the new coach or he can see the writing on the wall about playing time, etc. The only thing that I think a program owes a player is assistance in finding a new place to play by using the new coach's contacts and doing so in a timely manner. It's the end of April - not every program out there has schollys lying around. Some of these kids are depending on the scholarship money and it's an important part of the puzzle. There's also transferring credits, location of schools, and majors offered to consider. It's not like they can just open up the paper and there's opportunities listed, they can get in their car and hop to it. It's a complicated process and one that should be respected on UKs end. I feel certain that is being done however.
April 28, 200917 yr Things such as handling these kids "quiet but stern" does not show that the kids interest is at heart. Now lets look at this from the flip side. The coach who takes the job knows the roster. If you look at the last several major coaching changes at major universities you do not see turnover of 3-4 players. I am looking at rosters from North Carolina, UCLA, and Ohio St. when they had there most recent changes.

Roster turnover happens at every school and it happens almost every season - coaching change or not. It seems like you're trying to paint Kentucky as the bad guys, but this happens at every level - from N.J.I.T. to North Carolina.
