It seems like you're trying to paint Kentucky as the bad guys, but this happens at every level - from N.J.I.T. to North Carolina. It's not roster turnover when fans of the team are wanting players already on the team to leave, opening up scholarships so the the new coach can bring in players that better fit his system...

I didn't see anybody say they wanted this to happen. I saw people stating that it did happen and that it will happen.
April 28, 200917 yr That's what I'm going on is that UK and Cal will release him. Cal and Mitch have both said that they would honor the scholarships. However, Cal also stated he would be very honest on whether a player could play in his system or not. Harrellson stated that he wanted to stay, BUT if it didn't look like the best situation for him, he would look at his other options. Heard that on WLEX or WKYT about 1-2 weeks ago. I think if Cal tells a few players that they can stay but not play, they may elect to go elsewhere where their chances to actually see the floor are better. With the other 6'10" guys coming in, I think Josh may leave.

Let see here. I am a college basketball player who goes to a big time school to play basketball and get an education. I'm going to move far away from home and play the game I've loved, and worked on my whole life, because Coach recruited me and wants me on his Team. Things don't work out for Coach and he is let go, new Coach has a different style of basketball that requires a different type of player, really not my style. Should I stay here and not play, or should I go some where else, so I can continue to play the game I've worked so hard on? Oh yeah, and this will also be my 3rd Coach.

April 28, 200917 yr I really hope Harrellson @ 6'-9" fits into the system. He will not be a starter and will only get limited minutes. You have to have these kind of players on a team to make it balance out. If nothing else he will get a lot of practice on defense and that may be needed down the road from time to time. If I am not mistaken Josh is supposed to be a pretty good outside shooter. Who would not want a player at 6'9" who can spot up and shoot the three. I don't think we really got to see enough of Josh under the BCG system. I am one who hopes he does well as a Cat and stays.
April 28, 200917 yr Things such as handling these kids "quiet but stern" does not show that the kids interest is at heart. Now lets look at this from the flip side. The coach who takes the job knows the roster. If you look at the last several major coaching changes at major universities you do not see turnover of 3-4 players. I am looking at rosters from North Carolina, UCLA, and Ohio St. when they had there most recent changes. You can argue the numbers of players that either leave or rescind their LOI from any school with a coaching change but the fact of the matter is, it does happen. We are not as close to those programs and therefore we don't know the wishes of the fan base, AD and new coaching staff. I think the coach and AD have been very forthright with what UK wants on the floor next year. I wish all the players well that are leaving or have changed their minds about coming to school next year or whenever they verbally committed to come to UK.

Marvin Stone Adam Chiles Bernard Cote Shagari Rekalin Sims Adam Williams Derrick Jasper Mark Coury Alex Legion Mike Williams From all accounts Donald came in with the understanding he only had a 1 year ride, so I don't feel bad about him leaving. I would hate to see Stewart or Harrellson leave, but I also understand that UK comes with high expectations. Could Cal really keep Stewart or Harrellson on the roster and say no to Wall? He will be judged on wins and losses.

I guess Kansas has a bad perception because they had two players leave because of there loaded roster this season. It happens everywhere, every year. Not that big of deal imo.
April 28, 200917 yr Look I know the die hard UK fan will not look at this objectively :irked: which is what I am trying to do. I think IF the wholesale changes come (and by that I mean 3 or 4 players leave to open up scholarships........it gives the university a perception issue. I want UK to win but I also do not like how some of this is being done. And several posters have commented on having the "just get rid of them attitude" so we can bring in better players and agree with this strategy. I do not agree with doing this and quite frankly have issues with coaches that try to take players from a place they recruited them to a new place. But again its an opinion.
