Georgetown University Hid Religious Symbols at White House Request

I'm as republican as they come, but the title to this thread is ridiculous. I understand why you are irked at what happened, but saying he's "ashamed of Jesus" is very misleading. Simply state what actually happened, then explain your interpretation of his actions.

That being said, I'm kind of put off by hiding the religious symbols, but not enough for me to get all up in arms about it. This is the way this administration is running things, and I'm not surprised by their actions here.

I must say I disagree completely with the title of this thread. I agree with Italian stallion in that the thread title is misleading.

Will it never end? :ohbrother:

You hide what you are ashamed of. Why hide it at all? After all he has said we are not a Christian and here he is proving it.

The article states that Georgetown is a Catholic institution. WHY would they agree to cover up the Christian imagery?

And I agree that the title is misleading.

Count me as another who thinks the title is dishonest. I don't like that they wanted to cover the symbols but it's by no means a big deal.

It is so misleading it is ridiculous .

And I agree that the title is misleading.

FWIW, as a Catholic, let it be known that me (and many, many other Catholics) are consistently disappointed in the larger Catholic universities in the country (Gtown, ND, BC).

However, there remain some excellent Catholic universities - Steubenville and Ave Maria University are two that come to mind.

Would Obama have asked the same at a Muslim temple? I think not.

"White House staff asked the school to cover up all religious symbols and signs while the president was on stage.

The monogram IHS, whose letters spell out the name of Jesus, and which normally perches above the stage in Gaston Hall where the president spoke, was covered over with what appeared to be black wood during the address.

"In coordinating the logistical arrangements for the event, Georgetown honored the White House staff's request to cover all of the Georgetown University signage and symbols behind the Gaston Hall stage," university spokesman Andy Pino told FOXNews.com."

This is ridiculous... PC run amok.

What is more ridiculous is that Georgetown University agreed to such an immature and thoroughly assinine request.

I'll stand by my threat title, just on the thought that if he is proud of his lord and savior why is won't he speak with his name spelled on something in the background, is he afraid someone will associate him with Jesus, as a Christian I want to be associated with Jesus.

Would Obama have asked the same at a Muslim temple? I think not.

How can you say that for sure?

How can you say that for sure?

By his words, actions and political correctness. It is Ok to bash Christianity, but not the Muslim faith.
