April 15, 200917 yr According to sources close to the situation, the former Duke point guard was in Ann Arbor on Tuesday meeting with Michigan football coach Rich Rodriguez about the possibility of playing this season for the Wolverines. Paulus to QB at Michigan?
April 15, 200917 yr Michigan has reached a new low. Thats what I was thinking, Rich Rod will get laughed out of town if keeps stuff like this up.
April 15, 200917 yr I really don't see anything wrong with this. Based on his high school play, Paulus fits the system. It's going to take another year before Rich Rod gets in the type of players he needs to run his system. Why not take a chance on the kid?

I'd say because in a era of win or be fired, if Paulus did come that would put Rich Rod under a bigger microscope. A move like this and a 5 or 6 win season could possibly be his way out of town. Rod has a different personality, and the Spread Offense is looked at as gimmicky in the Big 10, especially at Michigan. It is a risk, no doubt Paulus has some natural talent though.
April 15, 200917 yr His brother is a QB at North Carolina. So football does run in the family. If a kid is athletic enough and mature enough, why not try it. It don't mean this kid will walk in a be the #1 but it will be good for the kid and may be a gift to Michigan.
April 15, 200917 yr He was Gatorade player of the year in high school, that talent just doesnt disappear. That being said, it is still a big gamble, but all of the quarterbacks on their roster have combined for 2 passing touchdowns. Somethings gotta happen
April 15, 200917 yr Michigan has reached a new low. I guess the Green Bay Packers and several other NFL teams have also. If the kid can play, why not?
April 15, 200917 yr Keep in mind that he was the number 1 rated high school quarterback four years ago and turned down many schools including ND to play Duke basketball.

True, but it has also been 4 years since the kid has put on pads. I would say any hope of developing Paulus as a college QB in 3-4 months when it takes any other quarterback from HS to college 2-3 years is very unlikely. I have disliked Paulus all through college, but I am rooting for him to have something stick with his football career.

I have disliked Paulus all through college, but I am rooting for him to have something stick with his football career. It doesn't take all college qb's 2-3 years to develop. There are plenty of true freshmen that play qb right away in college. It's not hurting anything to see if he can do it, or to see if he is willing to put in the work to be a good qb.
April 15, 200917 yr I would welcome Paulus with open arms if I were Rich Rod. Why not see what the former number 1 player in the country can do? Michigan doesn't have an option that is obviously better, IMO. If the Packers see enough to give him a try out, I would take a look at Michigan.
