Eastern 71-35

Eastern is ranked as one of the top teams along with Holmes and should be consider a favorite. Hounds will play their best and never stop trying. I doubt the margin you suggest and with a little more investigation I am beginning to doubt the outcome as well. Corbin can win this game if they do the right things.

If Corbin wins, it will be by the very narrowest of margins at or near the buzzer. Eastern could win in a blowout. I'll take Eastern.

Corbin 71 South Laurel 35

Game won't be a blow-out. Teams are too solid both ways for it to get out of hand.

I believe that 71-35 was the score of Corbin's regional victory. Eastern will go nine players deep(and I mean deep). They have SIX or SEVEN sophomores in that rotation(depending how coach couch plays it). Nerves may be a problem. If not, Eastern will be tough. They play great defense and rebound. They are not a great shooting team, but play team basketball. They have 5 players who average in double figures. It is true that they don't have that 6'-9'' guy in the lineup. But, neither does Corbin. Bulk does not bother the Eagles Rick Millner and football phenom Jon Davis do a pretty good job owning the paint. Corbin may be able to hang athletically, but they must be able to match Eastern's intensity throughout the entire game. Eastern has won a lot of games in the fourth quarter. Time will tell!

Corbin could be the dark horse in the upper bracket, but they have a date with the upper bracket's best team in the first round. I think Eastern will have better athletes and be a little deeper, but if Corbin shoots well they will have a shot at the end. I think Eastern will win, but I am pulling hard for Corbin.

Eastern will not win in a blow out!:D

Corbin is one of the Big Non-city teams that have a chance to win it all. Got to pull for the Mt. teams. Go Corbin!!

I think this is the best mountain showing of teams @ the Sweet 16 in several years. I think if Corbin can win that first game then they could be in the finals. Shelby Valley also has a great chance of bringing home the gold from Rupp. Maybe it is time for the old mountain boys to bring home the respect they had in years past. Fans @ Rupp tend to get behind the teams from Eastern Ky. when they pull of a "W" or two. Good Luck all Eastern Ky. teams.

Eastern wins not only this game, but more than likely the top bracket. I look for an Eastern versus Elliott County championship game on Saturday evening.

This is the fun part of the Sweet 16 -- talking about match-ups, possible outcomes, and disagreeing respectfully. Both of these teams have had great seasons and their records prove that fact. I just hope for a competive and close game with both teams laying it all on the line (as they should in the Sweet 16 and playing in Rupp Arena). One team is going to advance and one is going to be heart-broken -- thus, is life. Only one team will end up as state champions and fifteen teams are going to be disappointed. Congratulations to all the teams that won their regions and made it to the Sweet 16. This is an accomplishment in itself. One final note, Go Hounds!

I'll sum this up quick - speed, speed and more speed. If Corbin can handle Eastern's quickness, they'll win. It's as simple as that.

One good thing corbin has going for them against the speed is that Corbin is really long for a high school team. The wingspan of the players which are pretty quick in their own right could possibly disrupt some passing lanes. Eastern appears to be similar size but regardless i think Corbin can step up the D. This one is a toss up and we'll just have to continue talking about it and let the boys decide this one on Wednesday night. Looking forward to it.
