Your first concert?

Featured Replies

I thought this would be an interesting topic, though it may have been asked before.

My first concert was the summer of my 16th birthday when my brother and his wife took me to see Motley Crue. It was a very eye opening experience, including the first time that I every experienced a security "pat down," smelled smoke that certainly wasn't from tobacco, and saw Tommy Lee's naked behind.

 Very similar for me! But I saw Ratt with Quiet Riot. It was at the Louisville Palace, which seemed strange then, but seems even stranger now. I snuck out with my friends to go. I wasn't allowed to go to concerts.:sssh:

8th grade year 1984, I was 13. Iron Maiden/Twisted Sister. Powerslave tour at the Cincinnati Gardens. Awesome show !!!!! Over 100 shows later I still love going to concerts.

7th grade, Aerosmith.

My buddies and I snuck in a cigarette and smoked it during the concert

You rebel, you!

Are you ready for this?! New Kids on the Block!!! I know you are jealous! Straight from the 80's.

Seals and Croft at EKU when I was a student there. Probably around 1972 or 73.

The first I remember was Tim McGraw when I was in 5th grade (I think that's the right grade). It was during the time "Down on the Farm" was popular.

1976 I believe it was. My best friend's older sister and friends took us with them. Rod Stewart at Rupp Arena! The crowd was a mixture of ages, but the energy was so much fun that I can remember it today. Soccer balls flying everywhere. It was magnificent!! :-)

Many moons ago - Tom Wopat (aka Luke Duke) in Paintsville, KY...

Pearl Jam at Riverbend in Cincinnati, August of 2000. I was late getting into the concert game. I was a sophomore in college.

Metallica, Korn and Kid Rock at the Kentucky Speedway.

Certainly an eye opening experience.

Mine was the CSO conducted by Thor Johnson I know one piece they played was the 1812 overture by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky .It was a grade school concert during the school day and only about 2 or three boys went while the others opted to stay at school . I remember how cool it was when the orchestra played that piece and the bass drums simulated the cannons outside Moscow . That concert gave me a life long love of classical music .

The first rock concert was the Beach Boys .

Metallica, Korn and Kid Rock at the Kentucky Speedway.

I was there.

It was '73 or maybe'74. 1st band was Mott the Hoople, 2nd band, believe it or not, was Kiss. The main attraction was Rush. In a small arena in Huntington WVa. The Memorial Fieldhouse
