How far will Russell stoop to try and win an Academic competition?

Totally agree with this!, I do not believe the students should be punished for the poor decisions of their coach/administration. I also don't believe the Coach should be the only one "thrown under the bus" if the superintendent was aware of the decision being made. I am not sure how she could not know what was going on...wouldn't she be informed if the school felt they could not travel due to inclement weather? Wouldn't she question that decision after looking out the window?

Although the fate of the academic team is supposed to be resolved today, ie whether they will be allowed to compete or not, the ramifications of this situation may go on for some time.

I don't feel that the student that was on a college visit should be able to compete since he/she wasn't going to be able to make it for the original competition to begin with. The other students should be allowed.

That sounds like a fair and equitable solution to me!

Agreed!

As I understand it that is how the situation might be resolved but despite my past work

for the KAAC, I haven't heard anything official. This comes from a local (to Russell) source.

I wasn't necessarily making that statement toward the main issue here. There have been

quite a few asides (toward the KAAC mainly) that I would submit are unsubstantiated.

And as for the public record aspect, sure the allegations are in "black and white" but

the media need not leave students open to public record when they have done nothing

wrong. That's where I'm taking issue.

And for the most part I don't really think grudges are playing a whole lot into this. Certainly

I'd like to see my alma mater in a good light and would like others to see it the same way.

However, I also realize people are entitled to their own informed opinions and allowed to

make judgments on their own.

I have no problem with anything that you posted. Mine was a general statement and certainly not aimed at any one post, especially your post. I apologize if it seemed that way.:thumb:

:thumb: I agree with both of these statements, as for the bolded I absolutely agree. Depending on what the superintendent in question knew and when then imo she is as guilty or more so than the teacher since she is administration. JMO

I just had a patient from Russell that told me, "The only reason this is a story is because Ashland is jealous. If it had been any other school, we wouldn't see it in the paper or the news stations would not be at school following it." Anyone want to chime in on this opinion, which by the way is not mine......just a comment that was said to me.

I didn't realize that you took 3rd graders as patients.

I'm pretty sure that everyone of the schools were pretty upset about the situation, especially those schools who put their students up in hotel rooms the night before.

Yes Morgan Co is not happy....it is not just Ashland.

From what I heard there were 12 complaints filed from 7 different schools. The lady from Boyd Co. is the first to send in the complaint because she was the regional coordinator for the event.

:ohbrother:I don't think that something that ridiculous needs any explanation, your patient told alot more about themselves than any discussion or critisizm of it on here ever could. I don't think that you could correct that problem doc. :D.

Absolutely unblelievable, but then it again not really.

WSAZ news just reported Russell high schools academic team has been banned from the Govenors Cup Competetion and that the academic team teacher/coach at Russell has been banned from any competition for life. Also rported ws that some of the Russell acadfemics team accomplishments would be stricken from the records and that Russell would be put on probation untill 2011.

This is really sad for Russell and their students.

Shame on you Mr. Knupp... what a disgrace

Shame on you Mr. Knupp... what a disgrace

:thumb: I have heard that more than likely others (administration) were involved as well but that is just rumor at best and probably will not be known.

At any rate, this act by a teacher is a discgrace and certainly does not reflect on the students at all, those (students) are the ones that the entire thing is supposed to be about and they are the ones that were cheated by their own teacher/coach.
