Franklin County Coaching Update?

If Coach Tracy is a finalist for the Franklin Co. job does anyone know why he is wanting to leave Woodford Co.? By no means do I mean this in a negative way, just curious if Woodford Co. will be down for a couple of years, Franklin Co. will be loaded this year or soon, better job, better pay, better facilities, etc... Just curious because I thought he did a good job at Woodford Co. and has a good thing going.

That is home to Coach Tracy. Played there and began coaching there.

And you still haven't told us who the 2 were. :idunno:

I am not sure if I would call Franklin County loaded next year or not, they may get some new kids in the program with a new coach, but they do have talent on the way.

They may have some of the better teams the school has ever had but you also need to look who they will have to beat in the playoffs to make a serious run. Lexington Catholic, Boyle, Bell all in a row. Good luck with that one.

And ? I don't get where your comment comes from and why.

They might have some of the best teams they have ever had but they still wont go any further in the playoffs than they did this year.

They have had many teams better than the last few years. Nobody said next year would be loaded. It was a question about why Tracy would/might leave WC. BTW you have no idea or reason to say that next years team will or won't go further. Games are won on the field. That Boyle team from last year would have had no chance against some of the past FC teams, and that means nothing just like your comments.

Chris Tracy is a very good coach and Franklin County may win some more regular season games but they wont win anymore playoff games unless their district gets moved or Boyle moves out west. And yes my comments carry a lot more weight than you think. Covington Holmes is also moving into that district so dont think your district will be a cake walk either. Franklin County from the top down is a LONG LONG way from having a shot at beating any of the three I mentioned earlier.

I'm just curious. Has Franklin Co. ever had any playoff success?

I was addressing where YOU stated they(FC) had just had one of there best ever?? I also know Boyle IS beatable. They are not the Chuck Smith version now. Lex Cath is also down from where they were. Holmes is not unbeatable just because they are from NKY. BTW nobody said our District is or would be a cake walk. Let me guarantee you the kids at FC will not back down from your big 3. :thumb:

I don't think you have done your research. It was only 2 years ago that Franklin County went to Lexington Catholic and was up by about 35 at half time only to fall a foot short in double-overtime to the Princeton Spread and Ben Revere. The following week Lex Cath lost to Cov Cath in overtime. Cov Cath won the state championship game by a landslide a week later. The problem Franklin County has had over the past 5 years is that they had to play Highlands until things were re-districted. Franklin County would have most likely beaten the Boyle County teams when Ammons was there. However, Ammons was one of the best high school competitors to ever come through FCHS. Some kids just compete. Honestly, the game w/ Catholic was very similar to the Trinity / Male game that was played at Papa John's when Brohm squeeked out a win against one of Kentucky's best ever... It was the Revere & Ammons show...

They've been to the playoffs 18 times, with a record of 12-18. Half of those wins came in Class AAAA (AAA in '82) between 1976 and 1982. They lost to Tates Creek in the state AAAA final in 1978; Creek would lose to St. Xavier in the overall title the next week.

They've won single playoff games in 1995 (AAA-North Bullitt), 1996 (AAA-Oldham County), 2005 (AAA-South Oldham), 2006 (AAA-East Jessamine), 2007 (4A-Bourbon County), and 2008 (4A-East Jessamine).

The problem over the last fifteen years has always been the second round roadblocks. Two losses to Montgomery County, four losses to Highlands, losses to Lexington Catholic, Harrison County, and Boyle County.

Dead on MLB. That was one of the best HS games I've ever seen. :thumb:
