I heard that the visitors were very displeased with the officials. I also was told that the one official stood at half court while the other ran baseline to baseline. The "hard working official" has had a few of HMS away games and has T'd up the HMS coach every time.

 

Hopefully these two teams can meet in the end of season tourney on a neutral court.

Tell me about Twenhofel and Grant County 8th grade boys. Clinton County will play one or the other their 2nd game. I am assuming that Twenhofel is the better of the 2 so if Clinton beats Pineville they will play Grant County.

 

Twenhofel has no real superstars, just a very solid team. I know nothing about Grant County..

I got there right at the start of the 8th grade game and I heard the 7th grade Highlands coach was livid with the referees after the game. I heard words were exchanged such as "got homered", etc.

 

In the 8th grade game Highlands jumped out ahead 19-0 in the first 4 minutes and ended up almost losing the game.

 

Final 36 to 34. One of the referees moved maybe 10 feet the entire game. He hung out at halfcourt and moved 5 feet in on one side and 5 feet on the other. The other referee ran the floor the entire night.

 

Birds 8th grade team improve to 12-5 in conference and 17-10 overall. They play Beechwood on Mon night and CC Purple later in the week to wrap up the regular season.

 

How in the world do you have a 19-0 lead and only win by 2? What was the deal in the 7th grade game? How did HMS get "homered?"

Grant County is very physical, but like Twenhofel have no real superstars. Our team played them twice this year and what I noticed is that they are not really quick overall and do not have a ton of height. But, they play very tough basketball and have a couple decent shooters, but do not shoot very well under pressure. This is just my opinion and only from seeing them twice this year.

T's are down this year for the 7th grade coach I am sure of that. I know last year he had many. This year's HMS 8th grade coach it would be a miracle if he got a technical foul. LOL He's the most mild mannered coach I have ever seen but with that said I did notice even he walked a few steps out on the court after a PATHETIC call where the ref gave the ball to St. Pius when it should have gone to HMS. It was just a bad night of officating and the ref that was really bad just looked like he really didnt want to be there.

 

HMS 7th grade are 20 pts better than St. Pius and if they play 10 times HMS would win 9 of them. Last night was just one game so I wouldnt make too big of a deal about it. Im sure the HMS 7th graders are still the Number 1 seed going into the tourney.

 

One other thing to keep in mind, Nick True who is 6'4 is playing up with the Frosh and also part of this 7th grade class. If they keep developing this could be a really nice group.

They led the entire game and had the game in hand all the way to the buzzer but they definitely made it interesting. Ward from St. Pius got pretty hot and nailed a few big 3 pointers against the 2nd team from Highlands. St. Pius only had 7 kids on their roster so their starters played the entire game and played hard. Gotta give credit to them for not giving up.

Newport's 6th & 8th grades over Campbell County last night. Newport's 7th grade takes the lost. Newport's 7th grade team lacks a point guard this year and basic leadership on the floor. They have a good coach that knows his stuff but you can do only so much as a coach. The 8th grade had their starters back and played a hard game unfortunately I had to miss this one - duty called again. The 7th grade has a very energetic coach that goes non stop during the game - good job Coach Hambrick. Newport has Sharp (PC) next tuesday on Newport's floor.

Wildcats took advantage and played a tight 2-3. CC Purple was ice cold from outside going 1 - 25! Can't win many games if you can't make shots!!!! Barth had another nice game, but it takes more than one player to carry a team.

Any word on who won the Boone County Tournament?

 

In the 6th grade championship Ockerman beat Grant County 39 to 22. Ockerman went 14-0.

 

Ockerman's 6th grade team did play in the BCI last weekend and went 3 and 1 against AAU competition. Ockerman split with an AAU team from the New Albany, IN area.

 

I have no idea on the 7th or 8th grade finals in Boone County.

Congrats to Ockerman. Sounds like an amazing season.
