February 10, 200917 yr Lets hear some results from games this week. Tonight the Bulldogs from Holmes traveled to Highlands. 7th grade game. Highlands 61 TwoRivers 53 This was an awesome game to watch. The Birds were pure hustle and heart out there tonight lighting it up and taking it to the Two Rivers boys. Highlands has some nice depth and they get after it. Buten, Roberts, Hoge, Houliston, Hergott all played very solid games for the Birds handling the pressure and converting big shots. Jalen Avery was very good for Two Rivers until late in the 4th when he started forcing things. Still a very nice player who uses his body well to get to the rim. 8th Grade game Highlands 36 Holmes 48 Highlands was depleted with sick kids but never really had a chance in this one. Holmes jumped out big 17-4 and coasted. They have a couple of really nice long athletic kids who can get up. I would consider them to be the favorite going into the tourney.
February 10, 200917 yr I wouldn't say that either HMS or Two Rivers try to win the game on the defensive end. It was a track meet. Shots contested, lots of fouls called. Plenty of points for each team from the charity stripe. As Q stated, it was a fun game to watch. Actually closer than the final score indicates. HMS was up only 1 with less than 2 minutes to play. Got a couple of run outs and hit about 10 of 14 free throws down the stretch. Jalen Avery is very good. At times he single handedly kept the Titans close. For HMS Houliston and Hoge played very well.
February 10, 200917 yr 61-53 in a 6 minute qtr game? Nice defense. Or offense! :thumb:  Is the glass half-full or half-empty, Mr. Clyde?
February 10, 200917 yr Turkeyfoot is a cool name for a school, was chicken neck taken:) It is also the name of the road the school is located off of...
February 11, 200917 yr Twenhofel got their revenge tonight with a 53-29 score. All 15 saw good minutes tonight and it was a solid all around victory. Twenhofel could have named the score tonight.
February 11, 200917 yr Author Highlands beat CC Purple in 8th grade action 38-32. Witte led with 12 pts. The Birds jumped out to a 20 - 7 lead but the Camels went on an 8-0 run to cut it to 20-15 at the half. Birds then came out and scored first 2 baskets of the 2nd half and Camels never got closer than 6pts. The big Red head from CC (BArth) had a nice ballgame. I would say he had over half their points and made most of his FT's. CC played a very tough man-man but the Birds handled the ball well and hung on.
February 11, 200917 yr At Newport this evening it was the 8th and 6th grades over St. Pius and the 7th grade loosing to St. Pius.
February 11, 200917 yr Highlands 7th over CC Purple tonight 33-14. This game was painful to watch. Neither team played very well. Turnovers, fouls, and plenty of missed shots. If not for HMS getting quite a few easy baskets off of the press late 1st qtr and early 2nd the score would have been lower. All 15 HMS players got minutes tonight. BTW, How does CC divide up the boys? Do they have an "a" and "b" team? Are they split evenly or randomly? We played Gold early in the season and I remember the score to be similar to tonights game.
February 11, 200917 yr 7th grade is split evenly. 8th grade has an A and B team. It was painful to watch. What'd CC have... like 4 points and 10 fouls in the first half???
February 11, 200917 yr Author At Newport this evening it was the 8th and 6th grades over St. Pius and the 7th grade loosing to St. Pius. Congrats on the win Killercats !!
