February 10, 200917 yr One of my buddies played for him in HS and does not have good things to say and I'll leave it at that. I could care less about the guy honestly, just pointing out that with him coaching in college aside from Mid-Major IE Troy, his system doesn't work. You said it wasn't the system that was being discussed . :idunno: That it was about Franklin? Now you say his system doesn't work. Does anyone remember the bowl Auburn played in when Tony was 1st hired? The system was put in a short period of time and they won. Everyone was all happy then.:sssh:
February 10, 200917 yr The problems it seems people have issues with are 1. him personally and B. his ability to coach/motivate/or implement his particular scheme in Big time college football I don't think anyone is screaming the spread doesn't work in general, just with him at the helm, I hope this clears up what I'm saying
February 10, 200917 yr What happened at Auburn?? He went 5-2!! They won one game after he was fired and that was against UT-martin. Sounds like something was working! I think that is the one stat that matters. They won ugly with a spread scheme, which I think is a positive in Tony's favor. They scored fewer points and gained fewer yards after he left, which is a positive in Tonys favor. Tony was the only person on the staff that wanted to run that system and he admits that was his mistake in going there. The staff has to buy in. He is hard headed, because he won't be bringing in anyone at Middle either. I hope they buy in. Auburn got rid of that entire staff and brought in some people willing to run Malzahns spread system. Tubberville still has his job if his old staff would have bought in.
February 10, 200917 yr I will bet 99% of the bashing on here is because he turned Mumme in and sent UK to the dark ages for several years in football.
