fieldhousekrayzie21 Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 And it has nothing to do with the players or how the team is playing. I am embarassed to be a fan because UK Fans (at least alot of them) are embarassing. It almost takes the fun out of going to Rupp for a game, and I think it has gotten much worse this season as compared to seasons in the past. UK fans yell at Porter, Galloway, Miller and others to shoot during the games, instead of run an offense. They want them to take every halfway-open look that they have. And I am not just talking about a few people, almost the whole arena is yelling, making it loud enough that you would think the shot clock is running low. Our players have TONS of pressure on them already and some of the players that I have named seem to lack confidence in their shot. So why put more pressure on them by yelling when they are doing what the coach says? People yelling at our players makes me really angry. Booing when they walk off the court at Halftime (in the Miss St. Game) in just crazy. Booing and Cussing at Michael Porter and other players (I think Porter takes the brunt of it) is just uncalled for. They are kids and trying to do their best and the coach obviously has them in for a reason. You yelling does nothing but make the players lose confidence in themselves and their ability. It doesn't make things better at all and it sure doesn't change anything. So for all of you fans out there who want to be negative and cause trouble, keep your mouth shut. You should cheer for anyone wearing "KENTUCKY" across their chest, even if they are playing bad or aren't as talented as you think they should be. But I can tell you one thing, they are much better than you are and you have no right to cuss them out or boo them because they missed a shot or turned the ball over. Try having 24,000 people yelling at you while you do your job and see if you are perfect!!!:madman:
corndog23 Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Ive not wanted to associate with UK fans that are not my friends for a while now. It really is embarassing at games sometimes to hear what some people have to say about our team and our coach.
HT721 Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I'm more embarrassed by the university as a whole for some time, check their graduate school statistics, they seem much more interested in other states kids than Kentucky's
catfan09 Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Real Fans would never boo their CATS. Fans should be there to support them and raise them up...not disgrace them by booing. Come on guys (and gals) support your Wildcats! Do you think future players will want to come to KY if they think this is the way they will be treated by their own?

Those of us who skew to the other end realize that UK fans have always been like this. Nothing new. Happens every year the team underperforms (which is a relative measure). I love UK sports but my day doesn't ride on the outcome of their endeavors. Unfortunately, for too many it does and that raises a much bigger question than that of BCG's right to be employed by the university. Its unfortunate but not unique.
Cameraman Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Again, UK fans just need to chill out. I believe they'll be back to normal soon enough. Think of this time period as the eighties. Really nothing good for UK basketball... But here within the next decade or so they should be doing just fine.

Great job!!:thumb::thumb: I might only add that alot of the people that yell know absolutely nothing about the game of basketball. I get frustrated and vent on a post on here on occasions but it never last. That doesn't make it right, just me venting frustration on a loss. All I would say to the many, many so called fans that do nothing but critisize and spread neagativity with any and every comment they make is that if all you are going to do is put them down at every opportunity no matter what the case......then don't bother coming back around or praising them when they are winning.
Breds_12 Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 The problem with you UK i think is that only one player shoots all the "TIME!", and we all know who that is "MEEKS!", and if he is not on fire during the game, the whole team is shot. So whats wrong with Patterson and Miller?
mcpapa Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Regardless of the school - UK, UL, or the Little Sisters of the Poor; there will always be fans who constructively criticize, because they want their team to improve. I have never had a problem with this group; nothing wrong with "being negative" in this fashion. There will also always be fans that want to run the coach out on a rail at the first sign that expectations aren't being met, boo and curse players and coaches, etc. Often without identifying specific weaknesses and offering real suggestions and solutions.

ADopted ADmiral Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I might get upset with some of the things that they do wrong...But I would never ever Boo them...Just Like I could never Boo my own Son,Brother, friend or any of my family...:thumb:
