February 4, 200917 yr Does it matter? I saw a poll and 80% of 300,000 people voted that they didn't think it was a big deal. That Phelps was just being a 23 year old guy and it didn't bother them. Doesn't bother me at all.

February 4, 200917 yr The bottom line is that marijuana should be legal. In all reality, Phelps was probably drinking a few beers too. Should we condemn him for that? As long as he doesn't operate a motor vehicle, what danger does it present? Maybe you think it should be legal, but bottom line is it's not. I think the speed limit should be 75, but that won't keep me from getting a speeding ticket. No, he shouldn't be condemmed for drinking a few beers because that's not illegal. He should be condemmed for underage drinking when he was 19, DUI, smoking illegal drugs, and being stupid.

Marijuana is an illegal substance. At the age of 19, alcohol is an illegal substance. Someone said that at 23 he was not a kid. Wow, at 23 I was no where near the adult I am today. At 23 I was still doing stupid stuff. At 23 I was buck wild. At 40, none of that still holds true. Actually it all slowed down between 28 and 30. Lets watch the hollier than thou attitudes and remember that ALL have sinned.

I did have a really good job at the time that allowed me to afford to party at a higher level than when I was in college. I don't think he gets paid to be a role model or an example. This has been proven time and time again with folks like Barkley, Jordan, Strawberry, McGuire, Ruth, Dimaggio, etc etc etc. If I were being paid millions at the age of 23, i believe that my picture would alos involve scantily clad women surrounding me and my bong.

February 6, 200917 yr I have mixed feelings about this... I kind of don't care, and I kind of wish he defended his action a little bit more (yes, it's illegal, but SHOULD it be?), and I kind of think he's stupid for doing this illegal activity (even if it is an arguably pointless and stupid law) at a college party surrounded by strangers. But no, mostly I don't care.
