Would think it would be extremely hard to be a competitive swimmer and be a regular 'weed smoker', having done or been neither, but is it possible?, even though his 'use' seems to be after or before training begins.

 

No way his lungs would be at full strength for the next week or so, assuming he does not smoke daily.

 

But it is the off season and he can afford a few days of his lungs burning while he swims.

Seriously though, I don't have a problem with him smoking or the guy taking the picture. It's the free market at work. There is a high demand for Michael Phelps photos. :dancingpa

I'll be curious to see how many drop him. Some may stay away but I'm not sure if he'll be dropped by many.

 

For those that say he's getting paid to be a role model - wrong. He's getting paid to sell products. If an endorser thinks he will still move product they will not dump him.

We should all be more concerned about his DUI conviction. That could have led to deaths. This just led to munchies.

How would everyone feel about this if Phelps was Kobe, Lebron, or any other star from a major sport??? Those guys would be crucified. Don't go so easy on Mr. Phelps. Other countries might go as far and strip the medals from their olympic athletes.

So he's 23 and he's human & he likes to have a good time. I say good for him. It's too bad others have to exploit him.

I think people arent taking this as seriously because he looks more like hes having fun than doing something illegal and getting messed up.

 

That, and the fact that he was at a college party and everyone knows it goes on.
