I guess you didn't see the begining of the game where he got a block and next time down he got a steal that sparked the run for Holmes to take an early 6 or 7 point lead?

 

I watched the whole game, at times he did play good defense which lets you know that he is capable of getting it done, but at times he slacked off. I wish he would have had that intensity on defense the entire game rather than turning it on and off at different times in the game. I know Ricardo and his brother are excellent defenders as well as pittman and the rest of the guys but he didn't keep up the energy on that side of the ball for the full 32 minutes tonight IMO. Again it could have been because of the early foul issues but that is one of the things I noticed through out the course of the game.

IMO you are right on with this post. I'm sure Henley will take the win, but was not pleased with the effort during the middle part of the game. All in all a good win for Holmes against a stronger more physical team. Holmes started to show some toughness about midway through the 3rd and took the game when they did that. J. Johnson was a man on the glass the whole night, and he has to easily be the fastest Bulldog it looks like he scoots up the court with ball. Holmes has good outside shooting and it seem to get better as the season goes along. I think Rico should attack the basket more he get to the rim anytime he wants. He has the best basketball I.Q. I have seen in a Bulldogs jersey.

I think Dematha is the best high school team in Maryland - maybe not this year, but overall.

Dematha was incredible a couple years ago with Bogans and Forte. They had people on the bench that never plaed and got full ride scholarships.

But they were playing in Ky with Ky rules and should have been asked to abide by those rules.

That was a great game for the Bulldogs. Once they started attacking the baskets in the 2nd half good things started to happen. In the first half they had to much perimeter passing and waiting. This team is a no doubter for the state title if they continue to attack the basket with their athletes.

When tournaments are "sanctioned" using out of state teams, they must go to the KHSAA for approval. When teams from non-bordering states play, it must also go to the NFHS and each individual state for them to sanction, as well.

 

Unless specifically indicated in the contract and stipulated, in the conditions, they can wear uniforms approved by their state association.

Its not a KY rule. Its a NFHS rule.

Largo had the widest PG I've ever seen in high school.

K Arnold is going to be a really strong player in the next two years. For a kid with decent size (by high school standards) he is strong with the ball on the outside and in putting it on the floor. We saw that yesterday against Largo.

Holmes, the No. 1 team in the Enquirer Northern Kentucky coaches' poll, defeated Largo, the defending 3A champion in Maryland, 69-62 Saturday at the Bill Keightley Laurel County Hoopfest in London, Ky.

 

Holmes trailed by five at the end of the first half but turned up the defense after the break. The Bulldogs also shot better, hitting 61 percent from the field after opening the game at 32 percent.

 

JaMel Riley and Elijah Pittman each scored 16 points. Ricardo Johnson added 10 points, three assists and three blocks.
