LRCW Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 This is a rather weird mid season game isn't it? Was this in a tournament? If not, what's the connection between the two schools?

3-peat Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 If Largo would be a top 15 team in Kentucky, and they are not in the top 25 in Maryland, then Maryland basketball must be awesome?:idunno:
Wireman Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 According to Maxpreps - Largo is the 80th ranked team in Maryland. I have no idea how Maryland HS basketball stacks up to KHSAA basketball.
Eta Rho Posted January 24, 2009 Author Posted January 24, 2009 I watched the game on the internet and I heard the announcer say that Largo lost 10 players from last year's team but is loaded with seniors again this year. Does that mean they have a lot of turnover? I can't imagine losing that many players and having that many juniors returning. Does anyone have any information on the type of school they are? ...more like a prep school?? I did a little research on the Largo team in MaxPreps. If you look at their roster for 2007-2008 they had 11 seniors and 6 juniors. For 2008-2009 they have 11 seniors and 2 juniors. 1 junior from last year is no longer on the team and they have have 6 seniors that were not on the roster last year as juniors. That tells me that this school had a lot of movement into it from last year. Do you think this is common for that school? What are your thoughts? Largo is a program that is geared toward helping seniors succeed and get to the next level, hence them having so many on their team. I wouldn't say they're a prep school but the way their system is set up, it resembles one.

They are very similar to Ballard only with more size. They also have 4 D1 prospects on their team. Malik Thomas- Hampton, High Point, Navy Aaron Martin- UMBC Rashaurd Richardson- West Virginia Tech Shane Smith- Navy
Dawg81 Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Largo is a very good team. They are quick and can rebound.

I have no idea how Maryland HS basketball stacks up to KHSAA basketball. I wouldn't put too much stock in the Maxpreps rankings. They have Holmes #67 in the country but yet prepsnation, rivals, and USA Today all three have Holmes as #24 nationally.
Eta Rho Posted January 24, 2009 Author Posted January 24, 2009 Largo is a very good team. They are quick and can rebound. I agree. I'm not sure they'd be top 10 in KY but would definetly be top 15, top 20 at worst. Their size, athleticism, and depth would give a lot of teams trouble.
Wireman Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 What is the status of Maryland HS basketball?
tezzyrice Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Good win for Holmes. Arnold gets better with each game. Rico was the difference in the game. He has great presence on the court.
mcpapa Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 What is the status of Maryland HS basketball? I grew up there, but many years ago. Great basketball around the DC area, some good ball also in Baltimore. Not much else as a rule.
