It's my job these days to know how to identify talent levels. JJ is a MAC level recruit, and the coaching staffs at that level seem to agree with me. If he doesn't continue to improve that level slides, but I don't see that as an issue knowing the work ethic of the player in question...

 

I agree that if he continues getting better he could possibly be a mid-major guy, but you have to agree that as of January 25th, 2009 he isn't. The good thing is he doesn't have to be today, he still has an entire year to get there. I know for a fact however the coaching staff at Miami OH (a MAC school) has called him a 6'4 post player, that there were not interested in at this time. As far as other coaching staff's and other MAC schools I am not sure, he may be on there radar, not sure, but have they contacted the staff at Holmes about him yet?

This post seems spot on from what I have seen of them.

I can see where you see JJ as a four because he is usually in the 4 spot on defense, and most of his scoring is roughly 15 feet in and off the offensive glass. He can handle the ball a little but I don't see him as a kid that can create from the 2-3 spot at a mid major level.

 

Clyde mentioned Pittman as only having game from the 3 line to the post. I can see that as well. He is not explosive from the perimeter, and the only drives I see from him are off the baseline or catching from the high post.

Pittman has probably the highest ceiling of anyone on that team. He is probably a decent handle away from being big time.

 

RJ is just a solid player,nothing flashy. He is very strong.

 

 

I agree with you. JJ can eventually get there because he has a little time but I don't think he is there yet. Develop an outside and mid-range game over the summer and improve handling the ball and he is there but not quite yet. Pittman has unlimited upside and Rico is a player.

Miami isn't a team that I have heard is looking, so that would make sense. I will question their evaluation on this recruit. Miami has taken plenty of kids that fit the same mold over the years...

Eta is right on with Akron and Wright St making the most contact. Given the nature of the UC bias created by my job I haven't asked about him as much as the others. Just know there are teams at that level keeping a close eye on him...

If they are watching that closely there is contact as long as the staff has a clue. I can't tell you for certain what you are asking for there...
