I halfway agree, There is no way we can replace Roberts on D, but I don't think we will miss Polson that much. I believe we will miss Polson as a big target on offense. I wasn't to impressed with his Defense but I think you put Clark back and put Dylon Smith in Polsons spot and we will be alright. One of my concern is the lack of Height at wide receiver and secondary. Although Simmons done a fine job at receiver I could see Marcus McMillian stepping in to that role. The roster has several WR's on it but can't really remember a lot about them seems like I heard some mention of the Sawyers kid. I recognize the names but just can't remember a lot about them.

I just don't think he could tackle anybody, he always stayed five yards off everyone and just tried to hit them. Though wrapping up was most of the teams achillies. But that is my only compliant about him. We will miss all of our seniors but I don't think for long.

I thought that our pass coverage really picked up toward the end of the season. The kids are going to be even more comfortable with the defense this year and we'll have some experienced boys out there. The defense made some big plays for us last year and I think we can expect to see more confidence on the field as the kids adapt.

I see McMillian replacing Simmons on both sides of the ball. But I think in middle school he played DE.

I think they have more ends than cornerbacks, and McMillian can run well enough to play cornerback, and I was surprised at how aggressive and physical he was during the freshman/JV games.

Yeah I was just making a point with his speed he belongs in the secondary. He's got that toughness that Coach Larkey likes. You can't really teach that. If Coty Taylor can work his way onto the field I don't see him coming back off of it. Assuming Clark ends up at safety, who else do you see on Defense?

I think you can count on Phillips at the nose and Ball at one tackle. Calton will be back at one end. Jamille Stewart was going to start at end last year before the injury, so he could be the other. I was thinking Burgan played some up front last year, so he could be the other tackle or perhaps Travis Fields or Chase Calton. Some of the probable starters on the offensive line like Shoemaker or Owens or Haywood could also be considered.

 

You'll have Green at one linebacker and maybe Burgan at the other, or perhaps Tyler Stewart if he returns to form after the injury, or maybe Jamille Stewart can play there. Josh Jenkins and Stephen Dozier were very solid on the freshman team last year and Tucker Lewis may be the best eighth-grade linebacker in this part of the state. Jordan Turner was solid too.

 

We talked about the secondary with Clark and Smith. Halcomb, Taylor and McMillian are among the candidates at the corners.

Yeah I almost forgot about Dozier, he could possibly fill both spots vacated by Glen Roberts or at least give someone a breather.

 

It just depends on who decides show up and play with a lot this. Coach Larkey has said who ever performs best plays. Maybe some surprises this summer. This is the exciting part of the off season getting to guess about all of this and then get to see how everything turns out.

I know Coach Larkey will have the defense ready to play, but I wonder just what kind of offense we will put on the field. I imagine we will see a steady dose of running the ball.
