I'm not against basketball, just saying he had a lot more time to focus on weightlifting. Playing other sports do keep them in good shape.

I hear Coach is working our Bears hard getting them ready for camp!

The Pig Roast was a great time again this year. Good fellowship with our Black Bear family. Thanks to all who helped and all who ate. Your support is much appreciated.

GO BEARS!!!! CANNOT WAIT!!!

I hear the boys have looked good at practice, they leave for camp tomorrow anxious to see the team that comes back!!!

Two Weeks until our Black Bears take the field for the Grid in Corbin!

Saw some team pics today and our numbers look a little down???

About 3 weeks ago I heard they had total numbers in the low 60's with 15 of those being freshmen. 15 freshmen coming from 3 middle school programs is a terrible number. Over the next 2-3 years those numbers could pick up and they will have to if the Bears play competitive 5A football.

Next years middle school class (8th grade) will be staggering though. There are a ton of 8th graders.

One of the middle school football teams only had 3 8th graders last year. But as 3wishes stated next year's 8th class should be huge and I might add, they are a talented bunch. This year's Freshmen class ain't too shabby either. I believe there are 16.

The numbers are a little lower this year because some kids figured out that there's a little more to it than they were willing to give. These younger kids coming up will have a clear understanding of what's expected of them.

I hear those 15 or 16 Freshmen are pretty good ones though!

Some of my family in the Harlan area has said some of the new has already wore off the football program causing some the numbers to drop. Remember numbers don't mean everything. 60 is still pretty good.

You could have 100 team members and still not have 50 football players. I'll take quality over quantity anyday of the week. If Coach Larkey had let the players away with not lifting, not going to camp and not running at practice, there'd be 200 players. Bottom line is that most of those that quit were not willing to pay the price to win.

Well Put, I'm sure everyone that's on the team believes in what Coach Larkey is teaching.

I don't know about 200:lol:

But definitely know that quality over quantity.:thumb:

Who's ready for some tailgating??? It's just about that time!
